I'm so glad you started this thread! I am most likely going to start HSing next year (K for my oldest). I am interested in Classical Conversations but it sounded like I would have to stay. Maybe it varies by location so I will ask. There is no way my little ones would sit still for that! My oldest DD was very serious and focused at that age and probably could have sat and entertained herself. I think THAT is odd!

There is a homeschool room at our church and they do a curriculum like CC. I am still gathering info, but it sounds like it might work best for our schedule. I can drop her off and pick her up.

Ok, so I asked around after you posted this and it seems the issue is that the locations that host CC (churches) also have church run daycares. So the churches don't let them have a nursery room because it would be "competition." One, the one to which I was invited, said they allow kids to join the K class once they are potty trained.

That's stupid! OK, there's a church-run day care. Well, these moms aren't going to put their kids in the day care anyway! So WHAT competition? Do they expect all these moms to sign up and pay exhorbant prices for just one day each week?

Most day cares here have a "Mom's day" option. It's for one half-day a week for otherwise SAHMs who want to run errands or whatever kid-free. They even take school-aged kids for homeschool families!

I guess they're hoping the frustrated parents of toddlers will put their kiddos in Mom's Day.

I swear, most of our city's churches would shut down were it not for the funding from their day care centers. Gotta make up for non-tithers somehow.

I see. So Mom has to pay for a half-day (or a whole day), and still doesn't have the option of doing errands without kids. That stinks!!!

You could be describing my own grandson at that age. It is normal.
