DH & I went to a presentation they did recently. We were very impressed. Our kids are pretty young, though. Basically, it sounds as if there are three phases. In the first, there is a lot of self-reflection and goal setting. After this is done, they figure out which degree is most appropriate to assist in attaining those goals. So, it's not selecting a degree according to what you "like" to do now; it's selecting a degree based on what you want to do over the course of your life. In phase two, the student is coached and then cleps out of courses. They have some amazing percentage rate of students who pass the tests on their first try. When this phase is complete, you begin actual classes, either on campus or online, with a regionally accredited college that has a relationship with College Plus. (There are a bunch.) I really, really hope this will be an option my boys will consider. I think it's an excellent way to get a college degree. If I needed to pursue an undergrad degree, quite frankly, this is the way I would do it.
We have not used it but freinds of ours did. I know her one child will be graduating from high school with her B.A. from an accredited college(Thomas Edison State College in NJ). I guess most of the credit is done by clep test but you are required to take a few on line classes depending on your major.
I saw that the Duggars use this route for their older children along with other apprenticeships and internships. I thought it would be an awesome option for my kids because it seems so homeschool friendly, and they could earn their degrees earlier and faster. Thanks for your .02! I will definitely keep this option in mind!!
