What does everyone think about the website Time4Learning? My daughter loves to learn and play games on the computer. She is 3 1/2. I was thinking of joining but I wanted to get some reviews first :)

    Thanks

We used it as a supplement when my kids were preK/K/1st. I'd recommend you do the free trial and see what you think of it. For that age group, there really is a lot of free stuff out there in terms of educational games [e.g. Starfall] that would probably serve you as well.

But, without knowing exactly what you're looking for, I'd say do the free trial and see if it fits. :)

I wouldn't use it at that age. There's tons of free stuff out there. For older kids, I wouldn't use it as my entire curriculum, either. Maybe just a fun supplement to play around with.

My son has "fun stuff" and "learning games" folders on his favorites bar. He can do learning games anytime he wants, for as long as he wants, within reason. The fun stuff folder is just a special reward sometimes. I'd put T4L in the learning games folder if it were free. Since it's not, I haven't added it.

We used it for dd1, but she got bored of it and only enjoyed the science bits, so we cancelled our subscription and we are getting a great deal for educationcity which they can all use even the 3yr old :)

Great for the PreK to end of 1st with the exception of my son who just LOVES it. Hey whatever floats his boat to learn some days. I used with my now 6th grader when she was in 1st and 2nd grade. I tried it again with her last year and she did it but didn't care of it. She likes her real books. My youngest daughter, 6, liked it but she had a hard time with it on her own so we stopped using it. My son who is 7 does great on it and is doing the 3rd level work.

We use it and loved it. I started last year when DD was 4 but found that the prek was really easy for her. I bumped her up to the kinder level. By fall we bumped her to 1st grade as she found it too easy on kinder. We currently have access to prek, kinder and 1st grade now. When she wants to 'play' she clicks down to kinder but when we are doing lessons we go to 1st grade.

I do not always follow the lessons in order. I pick and choose lessons that fit what we are learning. So often I pop on and pick a few and check them out to make sure they fit.

She rather likes the program. I personally found that the reading in kinder got a little slow (After hearing ......"This is an A. Ant begins with A. This is what an A looks like. The word ant has an A at the beginning of the word. Can you find the letter A? That's right! The word ant has the letter A in it. The letter A looks just like this......." I could probably shoot myself in the head!). But the science in the 1st grade level did not have someone to read for them in all the lessons and she prefered doing the kinder level so she could do it on her own. I use the prek level for my family daycare now.

Would I use it 100% as a curriculum? Probably not. But more so because my DD likes books and paperwork. So we learn lessons from workbooks and such and then follow up for about 30min on the T4L. But on days where she was antsy and didn't want to listen....this program covered our daily learning needs.

I recommend the site myself. BUT you have to watch what your child is doing and be prepared to adjust lessons/levels based on skills or they will get bored.
(BTW my DD is now 6 and 'supposed' to be in kinder.)

We have been using T4L for the past 4 years, even though we didn't use the PreK version we love the 1-8 lessons. We ended up going back a couple of grades when we first started to find the gaps in my oldest knowledge. He flew past most of the lessons but we found what he was missing and kept going;) Just thought that I would let ya know how it worked for us:)
