as a few of you know ive been working on teaching my lovely little girl to read , but i found her getting a bit frustrated pretty quickly after beginning lessons. So today i talked with her to remind her why reading was a good thing and found myself suggesting that she learn to read so that she can read stories to her new little brother sister until they're ready to be born. (only she insists that its a girl so it was worded sister :roll anyway it seemed to bring a whole new enthusiasm into what she was doing and she declared we'd get started again after a short potty break. she walked away from me shouting " Yes!! This is going to be SO awesome!!" (sounds super cute coming from a three year old) I got a grin out of it and wanted to share, any thoughts or similar expirences, please share!!
That is very cute!!! Ems is a big 13 year old now but when she was around 4 or 5 years old, I would sit on the toilet as she took her bath. This way I could keep an eye on her and help her clean herself. Well, once I heard her talking to her bath toys. She was reading the words from the shampoo and conditioner bottles and making up what she couldn't figure out. LOL I am sure her toys enjoyed it!
hehe made me proud... now if only shed get exited about the idea of reading to her little brother  i'm dreaming of cozy storytimes around my mothers old chair all three at my fet or the two youngers at big sis's feet whatever works out !!
When Phillip was born, Rachael refused to talk to Carl because he was a boy. She was five at the time. She had two older hallf-brothers, and she knew brothers teased and she didn't want another one. She didn't talk to him all the way to the hospital. I asked her if she wanted to hold the baby, and got a nod. She held him (still without talking to anyone) and he fell asleep for her. My parents came in, I asked, "Can Grandma hold the baby now?" She shook her head no and refused to give him up. And they've been really close ever since!
