I didn't read the article but I do believe that when I send my child to school it is their responsibility to make sure my child is in a safe environment & able to learn. It's in the contract!

Yes I also believe that its the parents responsibility as well. But what do you do when you were like myself and you can't just readily drop everything and homeschool. Or when you are constantly telling the principle, the teacher, and the school board that your child is being bullied. Because of PS my son wanted to jump out of a three story window because no one would help him while he was there. He went through therapy & severe anxiety, he still has the anxiety issues all because of what he went threw in PS. His teacher said being bullied is a part of life and he should just deal with it. No one cared! NO ONE! Not superintendent, not the principle & certainly not the teacher. In fact the teacher would often instigate the teasing of certain students, DS being one of them.

The last 2 weeks of school my son got fed up. When one of those kids threw a brick at him, he slugged the kid and guess what, it was my son who got suspended. Then his teacher had the nerve to call me and tell me that she hopes I punish him. I had to tell her, I most certainly will not and how I raise my child is my business. Maybe I should have thought about suing because the school broke their promise to protect my son while he was there.
