I am compiling a list of books for next school year for my son. What are your favorite classic literature picks around the 4th-6th reading level?

Thanks! I'm not familiar with the King Arthur book. Which one are you referring to?

Great list. I haven't seen the Mad Scientist Club. I'll have to check it out. Is the Robin Hood book you refer to the one by Pyle?

I'm not refering to any one particular Robin Hood book. I have one upstairs, but I'm too lazy to go upstairs to see, lol! I do have a copy of King Arthur and his Knights by Henry Frith.

Rascal is by Sterling North. It's about a boy whose mother is dead. He has a pet raccoon, which (of course!) is always getting into trouble.

Here's about The Mad Scientist Club: http://www.powells.com/biblio/62-9781930900103-0 The stories originally appeared in Boys Life magazine (the official magazine for the Boy Scouts) when I was a kid. I loved them back then, and Phillip thinks they're great now.

LOL, thanks! I'll check out the Frith book. I was thinking it was the Mallory one:p My boy loves knights and castles so it would be one he would like. Thanks for the link for the Mad Scientist Club. I have some books to check out!

WOW!!! WHAT a list!!! We've done many on that list, but boy, do we have a long way to go! But at least it will give me an idea of what I might want to read aloud this year....

If you haven't read "The Phantom Tollbooth" yet, I'd also highly recommend that! (Even adults would appreciate the humor and twist of words.)
