KrisRV, would TT be good for a child who is weak with math?

Kris (Murphy), wow! What an exciting life story you have! It is nice to hear firsthand how your experience was (and continues to be!). Would you say Singapore would be good for a 1st grader who is weak in math?

Sorry for the very late reply. I was so completely immersed in creating my interactive website that I forgot to come back to Homeschool Spot. I was spending my time learning a programming language called JavaScript to help make my website better.

I believe that Singapore math is the best math for any child because the bar model approach of solving math problems help kids actually see the problem in concrete terms. Math is no more an abstract (and abstruse) thing to them but something they can actually see with their eyes.

Thanks! We did indeed choose Singapore for both kiddos. It will be a true testament to the style of math if both of my kiddos are able to "get it" given their very different strengths! I am a bit intimidated by the method of teaching, having learned in the traditional US way most of us were. I appreciate the input - and away we go!!!
