I prefer to have all my children do their history together. We were doing something that had bible mixed in with lots of additional books and it's just not working. I REALLY like the way Rod and Staff does their history but I don't know if it would work out well with multiple grades. I'm wanting to teach American History next year. The kids will be in 6,7 and 2nd grade. Any suggestions?? Angela
I love Mystery of History, but they don't have American History. Notgrass just came out with a middleschool American History that is WONDERFUL, but prob too advanced for the 2nd grader. They could listen along though, and make a notebook.
REALLY!!! I didn't know Notgrass came out with American for middle school!!! We did All American History, but I really didn't care for it. Too textbook-ish!
Yes! And it is great! I REALLY wish Mystery of History had American History! I love the whole layout and how it flows.
We're starting MOH 1 this year for Phillip. Faythe will be doing Streams of Civilization; Notgrass has too much reading for her, I think.
I also really like R&S history, and I do not think it would be too tough for multiple grades. This year, we are trying out MOH, but it was a hard decision. Previously, my oldest used A Beka and dd used R&S history. I still bought the history from R&S and A Beka, and we are doing it this summer, lol. I guess I can't help you at all, can I?
I have DROOLED over Notgrass American History.. I would LOVE to get my hands on the middle school version. Ds13 doesn't like to read though.. I wonder if I could tweak it to do as read alouds.. I am still tossing around Rod and Staff though. $$ is going to be the contributing factor in this one i think. Ds14 IS going back to school (sniff sniff) so we have to purchase school supplies and clothing for him.. That's going to take a lot of our homeschool budget.. We tried MOH our first year of school and didn't like it so I sold it. I wish I would've kept it now to use later. Too bad they don't have American history..
