My almost 14 yo and I love to play games. For his B-Day this year I would like to get us a couple so that we can have some one on one time while the little guys are sleeping. What are some fun games to play with two people? TIA!

My oldest and I love to play a card game called Phase 10, you can get it from Walmart for about $5. :)

We also like Scrabble Slam. Monopoly the card game. Uno (we play speed Uno sometimes, that's fun).

Banana-grams - scrabble like, but more fun than that! LOL :)

Board games? Hmmmmmm...Sorry, Scrabble, Pictionary (harder with two people, but can be done), Scattergories.

    HTH.

    Racko- card/board game
    Othello
    Blokus
    In a Pickle- card/board game
Shut the Box - dice/board game
    Connect 4 -travel size
    Wig Out - card game

I love going to Target and looking over the card game and travel size game section. I find a lot of new games that way, plus they usually run under $5 each.

Nearly all of our favorite games are put out by Rio Grande Games. Dominion is by far our favorite, but we also really like Tikal and Carcassone. I don't think I've played a game put out by them that we didn't like. We also have to stick to games for two since DH and I like to bust out the games after the boys are in bed. That link lists all of their games by category.

Finding them, however, can be tricky. They aren't sold at Toys R Us (for the most part). If you have a game store in your town (not video games; games more like Magic or Dungeons and Dragons junk) they might carry them. They also tend to be a tad more expensive than your average Scrabble board, but they are high quality with amazing pieces and worth every penny. Dominion, for instance, has some cards that require coin counters. Those coin counters in other games would be little card-stock bits that you have to punch out of a sheet. Rio Grande, on the other hand, provides actual tiny coins that are very well made... and out of metal.

The more adult games my ds likes to play with me are Stratego, Risk, Monopoly (actually bearable since he started to really "get" money), Rummikub, Mastermind. Fun for adults are Apples to Apples (if you have more than 2 people), Rook (card game).

I like the really old ones, like dominoes. There are tons of variations, to keep it interesting. There's a take-off on dominoes called Spinner (requires a different set altogether) that's lots of fun too.

Not sure if it is too "girly" but a GREAT card game to play is called "Dutch Blitz". Very fast and lots of fun!

We also like Uno, Mastermind, Perfection, Rummy, Sorry.

Some games we all enjoy are Uno, Rummy, War, Trouble, Blokus, and Dominos. DS loves Risk and Monopoly. DD loves Scrabble. I am going to teach the kids how to play Skip-Bo and Phase 10.
