Our funny/sad (they had been delivering sessions to the schooled children at a local high school) A circus came to town and on one of the acts the commentary went along the lines of... blah blah blah "A cowgirl from the Rocky Mountains of Virgina".. My DH and I looked at each other quizzically even being English as said almost in stero..."really" we nearly wet our pants laughing. But as you say - so sad not only with grammar but general standards of education. Lets face it, wouldn't most people know that the Rockies are a) in Canada as well as USA and that makes them a very big range of mountains and b) have some idea that they are close to places like LA and Grand Canyon which are on the West Coastal side of USA?
