If you missed it, about a month ago my grandfather was hospitalized with a brain bleed (the result of a fall). Yesterday, he had a massive stroke and, well, my mom said, "The lights are on, but nobody's home." He was originally scheduled for surgery (the day of his fall) to remove a massive melanoma on his face. I guess it's very aggressive and they can't put off the surgery any longer. They're going to remove more than half his face. And the doctor is nearly 100% certain he will not live through the surgery. My grandfather was the closest thing to a dad that I had growing up. I can't express how much I love him. And I think I could handle this, except for one thing: he is not a Christian. My mom has a viral infection and can't be near him right now. Her friend Nancy is going tomorrow to pray with him. If he doesn't throw her out, she's going to share the Gospel (not that he hasn't heard before). Please pray like you've never prayed before that something inside of him understands and accepts. I can't even begin to fathom never seeing him again. I don't even care too much about healing right now; I just want his salvation.
Ami do not worry for your grandfathers soul. God will take him home anyway. I believe only the real evil doers of the world are forbidden from God. I am sure God has seen his suffering and waits for him in His house. God is love, kindness and forgiveness all rolled into one. He would not abandon one of His flock even if that one was not listening here on Earth. I will pray for healing for all. Take care.
I understand. I'll be praying, too. Please let us know how he reacts to both the Word and the surgery.
Praying for the Word to become real to him like he's never heard before I understand your change in heart as far as healing as his salvation will lead to total healing for eternity! Crazy what it takes to put things into perspective sometimes. Will also be praying for your mom to get well so she can be with him in this scary time!
