Who here is teaching middle school for the first time? My DD11 is a 6th grader for the 2011-2012 school year. I didn't intend to go into middle school but she wants to stay home and not travel 45 minutes to school. She would not be able to be part of any after school activites due to where we live so it really would be to and from school with no extras.
The new school year is stating up and what few new families that joined our community are sending their kids to the schools here.:| What new home schoolers I heard about all moved to main base or the housing 20 minutes away from main base.
This is what my 6th grader will be using
    • My Father's World-Creation to Greeks
    • Math U See-Delta and Epsilon
    • ACE-English
    • Mind Benders

This is our first year of middle school. Our ds is 11 years old and in the 6th grade.

    We are using:
    • CLE for Math, Reading and LA
    • Christian Liberty for History (around the middle ages)
    • Writing is a workbook
    • Science is Abeka
    • Bible is Christian Liberty (he plans to go through the whole bible)
    • Spelling is a small book we use called "20,000 words" its old but has been really a big help to them.
    • We also have other things Art, music, poetry and American history we are doing with his brother.

I will be interested in how you like MFW! We were looking at MFW this year.

Last year my daughter was in 7th and we used MFW Creation-Greeks, because I wanted to start at the beginning (creation) and teach chronologically. (It was our first year homeschooling so everything was brand new to us.) It's an awesome curriculum but it does move a tad slowly through some parts. It felt like we were studying Egypt for 2/3 of the year. At one point I picked up MOH and made a hodge-podge between the two history currics. I will say, be sure to do the Sabbath Feast scheduled in the beginning. It's our favorite memory. We took pics of our challah bread. =)

    CLE L.A.
A Beka History of the World (with some TruthQuest Guides, too!)

plus several extras like typing, worldview, Biblical feasts we skipped last year, etc.
