OK, we've moved to an area where I've been out walking everyday since we've been here and I plan to do a lot more walking in the future. I'm on a mission to lose some serious weight and walking is part of my plan.

I've been wearing what I used for nursing sneakers on my feet but they're not proving to be the best choice for me (they aren't anything fancy... Dr Scholl's maybe... not really sure). I have problems with the arches in my feet so I need something that will accomodate that need. (I need to pick out sneakers that my youngest son won't take a liking to and wear them on me like he has an issue with doing right now but I don't want anything pink either)

What kind of sneakers do you use for walking? Reebok, Nike, Adidas... any ideas? I've never been someone to spend a lot of money on footwear for myself but given that I've had problems with my back in the past and the amount of time I plan to spend walking, I think it would be a wise investment for me to do so.

    Any ideas?

I have these and they are awesome for walking, running, etc. Excellent arch support.

I use Asics, but not the expensive running shoes. They tend not to have enough supports on the ball of the foot for my liking. I also have high arches. I sometimes will find men's shoes fit better if I can find them narrow enough.

I've spent a lot more time on my feet lately and think maybe it's time to spoil them since they carry all my body weight.

I have to be really careful when I buy shoes because if they're too high on my ankle my feet blister something fierce... I guess that's why I stuck with the last style of sneakers because my feet didn't blister even a little bit (until Noah a hold of them anyway that is).

I just want to get moving and be comfortable in doing so

I like New Balance for walking, but I didn't find ones that worked for running in my price range. Definitely worth looking at, Brenda. :)

The New Balance "shape up" style are amazing for me! I need a new pair, but this is the first summer in a long time I haven't had a serious issue with back pain. They are the best of the best shoes I've ever owned...........I wear them everywhere.

The kids and I go jogging every morning and I wear asics. This is my third pair, I wear them right out. My son also has asics and my dd has new balance. I would suggest going to a shoe store and trying them all on. Walk around the store a little to get a feel for each one. Every foot is different and what works for me won't necessarily work for you.

I have to laugh every time I see the title of this thread. I picture people sneaking around (sneakers). Ok, ridiculous I know, but it makes me giggle.

new balance! I have a narrow foot, and NB always sizes the shoes so specifically that I can get exactly what I need. My dh is a big guy, 6'3, over 300lbs, and works outside on his feet all day. NB supports his back and his bad knee better than anything else he's tried.

I ended up with a pair of New Balance cross trainers. I've started out with walking and will work my way up to running (eventually).

I went for a long walk last night (4 miles) and didn't even feel the sneakers on my foot so I think I have found a good pair that works for me.

    Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd she's off again :)

I admit that I buy what's on sale. So far I haven't had much trouble. This past summer, a friend at camp shared that she lost weight with a Leslie Samsone DVD. I got one from the library, and am now walking with it about four days a week. It only takes me 15 minutes a day. I've renewed it three times already, lol!

I usually do as well Jackie but I decided that with the amount of walking I am going to do I was going to treat my feet. The shoes I wear when nursing work for that job but for longer walks, they actually hurt my feet so I opted to get something that was going to be kind to the feet that I abuse :)

I agree Brenda ~ you do need good shoes if you are going to be out there everyday. We jog alot and it is a must to have good shoes. As soon as my feet start hurting I know it is about time for a new pair, I wear them right out. I just picked up a new pair of asics for $30 that I will put away until I need them. At that price my dh said to buy them! :)

Well, you know what it is, Lee? You made the comment about "every day". I use mine maybe once a week...? Lol!!! I simply don't do it enough for my feet to hurt!
