Okay, long story (sorry). My son is 16 and has already pretty much finished. My plan for the last 5 years or so was to let him graduate a year early according to what he would have in public school (which would be this coming year). BUT his friends all graduated this summer as most were older than he. Soooo, I started thinking I'd have him finish his last two years on schedule rather than a year early. So, it's sort of like I demoted him back to being a junior this year -- but I did so because he wants to go to Berklee School of Music or another really good school of music. He plays guitar mainly, along with some other things.
So, I want to do (I think) an AP music, and perhaps some other good music theory, etc. There are no really great teachers here, so he will have to take some online classes. So I want to pick some realllllllly good, advanced music theory curriculum, especially since this is the ONLY class we're really doing. Any ideas?
    Thanks. Sorry so long.

If he already has a complete high school transcript, is there anything preventing him from applying to Berklee now? or maybe he could attend the music program at a community college? If he has already finished high school it would be a shame to hold him back unless you felt he was not socially ready for college, imho.

Berklee is so far away - 1200 miles- I'd rather wait. Also, probably the only way he's going will be if he can get a scholarship. So I thought we'd take these 2 years and really focus on music, improve as much as he can in two years. I'd love to let him do something around here but we live about 25 miles from even the most basic of colleges which doesn't have a great music program anyway. In fact, it's pretty much non-existent. (Drawbacks of living in the bottomless black hole that is rural southwest Georgia.)

 My family always jokes that we live in the armpit of America. We are also that distance from the nearest community college. If he is on board with improving his skills for a couple years, then it sounds like a great idea. :)
