Do you guys all have kindles, nooks, or e-readers?

We don't (secretly I think it's because I adore the smell of book glue  ), but I discovered a bunch of FREE kindle books on amazon that I downloaded and... am now at a loss. I HATE reading books from the computer screen.

Plus- I found some WONDERFUL ones on project gutenberg that I would LOVE to have in print (The Pied Piper has beautiful illustrations, for example). I'm tempted to just.. idk, copy the ones I can into a word document and print them out. That seems ridiculous though

If you really want it printed and don't want to buy it or can't find it in print, then do so. I have - now, mainly for fun. But check around - sometimes, you can find public domain books currently in print. They aren't all nice editions. I once came across a really fun book on music games for children, bought it used on Amazon.

I have a Sony eReader (excellent), our three kids have/had Lookbooks (pieces of garbage - they lasted long enough to let us know eReaders are the right direction for our kids to go) and DH has a tablet (iPad knock-off) that he reads books from.

This has in no way cut down our use of hardcopy books. If anything, we're consuming even more books. I just purchased three hardcopy books this week. One is a gift, the other two I know I can easily re-sell. That's not something I can easily do with electronic books.

    Nook

LOL. Me too. I have a first edition Nook and it's not back lit at all so it is just like reading a page out of a book. Nook good for illustrations but I only use it for my reading. I love it!

There's a free Kindle reader for PC's. I downloaded it the other day; will see if I can find the link! I DL'd it for the free Kindles at Amazon and CBD also. LOL One of my FB friends posted a bunch of freebies so I was glad to see another FB post about this!

I never thought I would go for an e-reader, but now my Kobo reader and I are inseparable. I also download most of my books for free from the Koo sight as well as from Project Gutenberg.

Meghan - the Kobo Lookbooks (IDK @CarolyLyn's Kobo) our boys have/had, phones, and the Kindle reader for pc are all backlit - if that's what you dislike about reading at the computer, you won't be happy. I actually like having books on my phone as a back up...say, we're stuck waiting somewhere and I can hand my phone to my son. "Nope, sorry, no games, but that book you're reading is on there!" Blessed silence. From that son, at least. ;)

My Sony is like the Kindle - it has the e-ink technology. Very nice, easily readable at the park.

I love my Kindle. I have always been a book reader and I thought I would hate an ereader, but ever since I got mine for Mother's Day I have been hooked.
I still read "real" books but I use my Kindle for cooking, games, notepad and more, its just not for books ( you can put music on there too :) ).

Here is a great link to a ton of free Kindle books :

    http://kindleworld.blogspot.com/2009/10/weekend-books-reminder-free-and-under-1.html

click on : most recently published to get the whole list ( right now its 1,263 NON-Classic books/games available).

I don't mind the idea of e-books but I think it would be a pity if young people get away from the idea of a volume on a shelf, to pick up and read.

I love my Kindle, too. It's just like reading from a book. And once you have it, finding ebook editions is cheaper than paperback.

If you like MG or YA lit, check my blog every now and then. I get a lot of authors that donate Kindle versions, and I always include where to find Kindle versions for the reviews I do. Every now and again I find free or very inexpensive downloads that I also share.

BTW- four days left for a PAPERBACK version of a brand new historical fiction. I only have two entries so far. :)

I don't have one either. Don't know if I want one. I think I do because everyone talks highly about it.

But, then again I love my books in my hand.

The only thing I miss when I hold my Kindle is the musty smell of a good book.

I love my Kindle, but I find I still read mostly library books, because they're free. :)
