Last year a friend convinced me that I should plan out my entire year, day-by-day, before we started school. During week 2, when something in life happened and we didn't finish all of that week's work, I felt like I had wasted hours of my time. Plus the schedule just didn't work well, so it wasn't worth even trying to catch-up. I ditched the whole thing and did no planning for the rest of the year.

Now, I do one to two weeks at a time. I try to read past that, but I only write down a week or two. Those can be tweaked without too much stress! Our MFW is already planned, so I just make notes to myself of any changes I want to make. Math, grammar, and spelling I just plug in page numbers- nothing too in depth!

While I do not make a schedule, there are specific subjects that we cover daily. Ems knows that she picks up where we left off unless I tell her she needs to redo a lesson. Even then, she usually will redo a lesson if she struggled with it. My biggest goal has been to teach Ems to be accountable to herself. While I am here to teach her and guide her, she is and has learned to do what needs to be done. Once in a while we work on unit studies and I have a folder of papers for her to work on. She knows where the folder is and she gets to work. I teach my part and Ems does her part.

Ha Ha.. Too funny. Oh what I wouldn't do for a nice QUIET beach to lie around on right now... This has been some day. We didn't get much of our school work finished. Did some of it we just started late and once the kids get their minds on something else forget getting them to focus on school.. We had an eye doctor appt an hour away too so that sorta cut into the day. But we did at least get some stuff done. And all the kiddos are getting glasses. Ds13 has been having issues with reading and I thought he may have a LD but the eye doctor said that the glasses should fix what's going on with him. We shall see. Or they shall see.. With their glasses that is.. Gosh I'm goofy today. Gonna go clean my messy house...

WELL good for you! Seeing is good when you are trying to read lol.
Today we had dentist and school went well while I was out, older son was at college dd had dentist so my high schooler did his school with no problems for the most part.
He did point out a few typos made him get a bad grade on his SOS, thats one problem typos are easy, I know that so I give grace for typos, when he writes things out he has to do it correctly spelling and all that but obvious typos, grace and mercy.
I am off in a min to pick up dd taker her back home from Theater rehersal and then on to ds older for home from College. SIgh long days

I think it's time to take a deep breath. and step out of the house.
go for a long walk or go to a cafe with a good friend or by yourself.
after you completely relax and enjoy your evening.
you could sit down(in a cafe or quite library) get your planner out.
plan a draft schedule and slowly and gradually move to the real planning.
go home and get a good night sleep.

the next day, tell yourself(it's going to be a happy day today)
have a nice warm breakfast with a good cup of coffee and off your go to a well planned day.
    best of luck
    we all love you

I Like that idea too! Thinking of a certain home school mom around here, but she is busier than I am 3 still home schooling and one just in college, plus sports. One reason we cut things this year like band class and Co Op group meetings was cause there was just not enough gas in teh car Lol!

I think Today I have a good perspective on things.
We unmotivated peoples need to sit back early watching the sunrise for a moment and then take pen and paper, or keyboard and screen and begin jotting down __ Goal 1--- Get through today
Goal 2 -- finish Goal 1 with an anchievement of A, B, C, maybe D if time allows.

Goal 3 EAT DINNER< and relax 2with kids and hubby either listening to hubby read to family or watching fav show. At least 30 mins of that!

Completed? Yeah! Inspiration for today-- keep it short and vague, lets try and see if planning out things less demanding on the kids will help us be less demanding on us!

Like for instance, ds has 3-6 pages of History, I can either write that or do pages xyc through dfg and write report on bla bla bla..

He will do the same work ( he told me so) regardless of what I write, just as long as he has his list to go back to when he is checking his what he has done...
I keep trying new ideas to find what works when the list is working still!
I just wannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnna be more orrrrrrrrrrrrganised... maybe I don't need to be THAT organised just make sure it fits?
