    hi everyone,
hope everyone is doing well. it's been awhile............

just want to update our homeschool jouney. we are officially homeschoolers althought i have not seen the confirmation of receiving our homeschool registration from the school district (central florida area). we been homeschooling for the past 5 weeks with some moaning especially from my youngest dd (10, 8, 5). the whole 5 weeks time, we were also packing up the house(in ny), moved, and just started to unpack at this very moment. and of course enjoyed our summer fun too. if not everyday, aleast every other day, i will chant to myself what's been advised to me by you all from few months ago....not yet encounter the situation where we been question - why my 3 dds are not in school ? =p. so thank you, thank you again to all of you. =)

fyi, regarding to confronting ps - after thought with a cooler head, decided it's better for me to use this energy of my to do more research on homeschooling. but i did notified them simply that we are no longer attending their school. the confirmation for this one, i also have not seen yet.
will i ever get one - UNKNOWN.

we actually moved about 14 days after i sent both letters to both places. maybe they are just back up, not sure??????? aleast i sent both certified so i do have signed received slip in my hands - =o)

last but not least, does sneak away really help? truly scare to go outside....
been here in 3 days and seen 2 already (black razor, so far) - HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    good health and happiness!

    Congrats on being official!!!

It's a scary step- I remember. Jeez, for the first few months I wouldn't let my kids go outside to play when it was time for the bus :p Thankfully, these days, if anyone asks the kids why they aren't in school (this happens often, pathetically imho), and the kids reply that they're homeschooled, the conversation stops. There are the occasional opionated idiots, but most people either censor themselves, approve, or don't know WHAT to say to that

I have no idea what to say about the razor back thing- I thought you were talking about street gangs or something, but maybe it's wild pigs?

We are in West Central Fl. We attended a homeschool workshop and were told that you may or may not get confirmation from our county. We did get one. We just started this year but I don't make any attempts to "hide" my hs son. He takes his brother to ps every day. Never once been asked why he's not in school.

As far as the snake thing - asked dh and he said bug spray will help keep away Black Racers. If your in Fl. thats killing two birds with one stone!
Black Racers won't hurt you though - they help with the bugs.

Good luck & welcome to FL.

thank you meghan and debbie for your response.

meghan - sorry, i meant snake, not sneak - beyond scare =z.
as for outing during "school hour", only with DH for now. definitely require few months time since there're other many new things to get used to........

debbie - are you sure bug spray works? which kind? do you have any in your backyard?

i provide them with our new york address as the return address so only will know when DH return to tied up loose end in few days. glad to know not all district will issue the confirmation. isn't it a must have? not joined any homeschool group yet.

yes. need alot of luck. thank you both again.

Sorry took so long to get back to you. Hubby said bug spray will work. We have had them in the yard before but haven't had one show up in several years. Also, this may not be a problem since you just moved in but if you have any hiding places, take care of them. They like shaded and hidden areas. The last hiding spot for us was a stainless storage cabinet on wheels. He would curl up under it for his home. Rock piles and such are also good hiding spots.

If you don't have any good hiding spots and he is comming into your yard for food, bug spray gets rid of the food source. No certain brand, just any general outdoor bug spray.

i'm just glad and grateful for your detail reply. will definitely try bug spray.....just spray around the house/ entrances, will do yes? hopefully =z.

hiding places - been walking around the house checking for any holes or gap to be sure they can't come in.....since i didn't see any, I THINK we are safe inside =0?
will try to eliminate all the places you mentioned sooooooooon =z.

    thank you very much, debbie.
    good health and happiness.
