Have a nice try . But i guess i can't do this job . Because i am little curious about my hairs . Or why i will try this if i can buy one from some marts . or it is better then commercialized products ?
Michealleo, commercialized products are full of extra ingredients that are not necessary in order to obtain clean hair. They are harsh on the hair and scalp. Most shampoos are made so the maker can make money. It is about commercialism more than having healthy hair. While some people make their own washes because the ingredients of marketed shampoos can be damaging to the body, others make it because marketed shampoo is drying and damaging to the hair and scalp. However, I think both would agree that the savings is huge.
Yup! Exactly what Patty said. For me I wanted a natural, chemical free safe alternative to commercial shampoo, but I also didn't want to pay 20.00 a bottle! This is my solution. Other people just don't like the effect of commercial products on their hair, and they want something else.
Hi...,Great post and nice ideas to hair. This is really cheaper ideas to make shampoo and conditioner.I will must be try it.My aunt tell me about this site and i see it is really so good and informative. Thanks for sharing this.
In a previous post, I shared that Handsome likes the glycerin from the bar because he gets very dirty at work and I like it diluted into four gallons. I finally came up with a great compromise that is still very cost efficient. I only make two gallons of shampoo instead of four. It is still strong enough to clean Handsome's hair and not to strong for my mine.
Please give me the site or recipe for your shampoo and cond. I have very fine hair and it looks horrible if I dont wash it and blow dry it everyday... I don't wash it everyday and it looks horrible. Does the baking soda wash remove hair spray residue?
There is aluminum in baking soda? EEK! I am in the process of going natural on some stuff but we are moving next month so i'll probably wait till then so i dont have more stuff to move, lol. We are also TTC so I plan to do a lot of stuff at that point as well.
Your skin is actually the largest organ in the body, so any chemicals that you put on your skin are absorbed (I know- basic knowledge, but I think people forget that it's like swallowing chemicals- it's in the body). Propylene glycol is a petroleum product, and you'd be amazed at where you'll find it! Shampoos, conditioners, powdered sugar donuts, etc. SLS is another one that is in what I would consider ODD places. Start reading the labels in the grocery store and you'll be surprised! It's harder than you think to go natural! (This holds true in the health food store- organics can have these in them too!) MT3 My biggest "problem" during the summer and fall is finding "good" bug sprays and sunblocks. Both are necessary, but since they are absorbed into the body they can have definite reactions too. One DS ended up with total body hives- and we think it was from a new sunblock. It was days of discomfort for him.
This is very true. After reading numerous labels for conditioner and shampoos, most have Propylene glycol in one form or another. There is vegetable and animal glycerin. The animal form provides fat to bulk the hair as well as protein to strengthen the hair. I use vegetable. It doesn't weight down my hair as much. It can be found in food grade and non-food grade. Food grade is obviously used in food. LOL It is found in candy, dressings, etc.. It can also be found in lipstick, lotions, and like you shared, almost everything we put on our body and eat. I agree, it is also found in "organics". This is why I do not fall for the "organic" pitch. Unless I made it myself and I know where my supplies came from, I have a hard time believing in organic.
SO interesting! I admit I'm intrigued by this resipe and if it will work or not. My hair is my best feature, IMO, it's long, extra curly and thick. I don't spend a fortune on shampoo and conditioner ($1.87 for each bottle a week) but my hair gets extremely tangled and is nearly impossible to comb through without a great conditioner. Is this conditioner going to really work, and detangle my hair??????
I have been using this recipe for a few days now. I love it! I was wondering about the vingar and water thing, but my hair is so easy to comb thru now! I loose lots of hair while washing and combing out (i mean hand fulls) , but with this stuff.... I have not lost as much! Thanks for the recipe! LOVEing it!!!
Shelby, I think store bought shampoos are so strong that they do cause our hair to fall out more. I do not use Birbitt's recipe but I do use my own simple concoction and my hair barely falls out anymore. With my hair and Emma's hair, I was cleaning the trap out daily. Now I do not have to clean it as much. Not to mention that my hair doesn't fall out as much when I brush through it either.
Patty, I agree. I have to clean the drain ever time I wash my hair, but I look this morning and no hair! yay!!!
