Hello Not meaning to hijack this area of the forum, but wondering if there are groups for other religions at this forum? Jamilah
Not to my knowledge. Homeschooling is quickly becoming more popular among non-Christians. You might want to suggest something to the moderators, maybe in the Questions section. Hope this helps.
I think you will find a wide range of beliefs here, some just don't openly express their faith like others do. Those who participate here (in my opinion) go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, whether your teachings are the same as the rest or not. I think you'll find support here regardless of your faith 'system'. Join in the conversations when they apply to you - I think you'll find support.
I agree with Brenda. If there were several ladies who were something other than Christian (in all its various forms) and wanted a forum specifically for that, I've no doubt Amanda would accomodate them. And I can't imagine anyone on her complaining about it. If someone were to complain, it'd be that person's problem, imo! Our goal is to encourage the hs'ing parent, and that's something you can do regardless of faith.
I'm Muslim and it would be cool to see what other Muslims were doing for Islamic Studies, but other than that I'm sure we all would have a lot in common anyway.
I hope you will jump in and give us a different perspective on things! Though I am not aware of any other Muslim ladies on here.
WELCOME!! I'm not aware of any other muslim ladies here either but so glad you are here!! I hope you find the support you are looking for. Angela
Welcome! Hopefully there are some other Muslim ladies here who've been lurking. Maybe a separate faith area would encourage them to come out of the woodwork.
Welcome!!! While we do have a section for Christian conversation, it is used by more than Christians. We have discussions about Christian issues and other religions as well. We also discuss issues that might pertain to Christianity, whether a person is a believer or not. This site isn't a Christian site. Amanda created the section because we were posting Christian threads all over the site and this allowed us to keep them in a specific area. Then there is a restricted Christian section where Christians and others often go to place private prayers. Sometimes we have trolls who like to come on and pick at our prayers or questions and sometimes we just want our prayer requests not to be posted all over the world. Sometimes we want to have a conversation where strangers can't come on just to argue their point. So please join in!!! You are more than welcome here and I hope other Muslims join us as well. We all have the common goal of homeschooling our kiddos.
Patty made a good point about the Christian section being open to people who are not Christians, too. She also mentioned the restricted areas, and why they are there (so we can post things that no "stranger" to the board will see). Right now, you do not have access to these areas. To gain access, I think you have to be signed up for a certain time frame, and also have a certain number of posts (50?). In other words, we don't want to be restrictive, but we do want some protection. Also, you can't post links until these "requirements" are met (to prevent people coming in who only want to promote their business).
Not everyone here is Christian, but I've found this group extremely open I have yet to be either attacked for not being so, or had anyone attempt a conversion. I do tend to stay off the Christian sections of the board out of respect for the folks who post there- there are definitely lifestyle differences and I inadvertantly stepped on toes at first without realizing how I was coming across- however I was NEVER flamed, nor was anyone cruel enough to tell me to shut my trap
Thank you everyone for your messages. I think that as religious people from the Abrahamic faiths we have a lot in common anyway. I am looking forward to being able to share our similarities and differences
