    who loses books!!!

I just bought The Usborne Science Encyclopedia, I got it last week, so I grabbed that, The Usborne World History Encyclopedia and our Usborne Children's Encyclopedia and sat down with them trying to decide if I was going to introduce the science and world history to the littles now or hang on to them for a year or two being happy with what was in the children's. Decided that I was going to just stick with the children's for now. Well now is here and I can't find any of the 3 books!! I have no clue where I put them! Now I do have a huge book problem, I have the equivalant of a small library here, but gah.. where did I put those darn books???

(anyone wanna come over for a scavenger hunt?)

haha.. I figured if I posted about it I would find them, and wala I did. The kids put them in one of the school bins (they are dish pans) and put the bin away... totally not where they belong but hey at least they didn't just toss them on the floor which they are known to do too.

YEP! I was going crazy looking for my Bible, for several days. Rachael found it right away under a table.

Last year when my son was about 2/3 of the way through his math workbook 1 for Horizons it disappered! We looks everywhere but couldn't find it. I decided it was a good thing Horizons is spiral becuase we ended up going ahead to workbook 2 and he did fine. I had to explain a few things, but it was ok. Over the summer we finally found it... behind the piano! ARGH!

I have found some books in some crazy places. I had been looking for these 3 books for 2 days, I was completely lost as to where in the world they could be...who would have expected the kids to put them somewhere sort of logical, you know school books in school bins.

Are you SURE he didn't hide it on purpose, lol?

I lost a library book. And I found it about a year AFTER my dss moved out of the house. We were turning his basement bedroom into Carl's "workroom", and there was the book I had paid for in HIS room!!!

Where do you get your Usborne books? I met someone who sold them and promptly lost her card... I can't remember her name for the life of me.

I think ediesbeads has the right idea - if something is lost, it's like God telling you that maybe now's not the time to be using that.

I know it's still annoying, though.

If I posted on a website every time I lost a library book, I'd have to make a weekly thread to update....

Oh, those of you who go on to the next book, I have a few Life Paks left over half done from ds1 and dd who lost a book and thought it would mean no class for the day, I just opened the next book up and started assigning from there. Generally we would go back when the book ended but not always.

Posting on here doesn't help with lost library books! The only way to find one (unless it's hidden in dss's bedroom ....) is to report them missing to the library and pay for it. Then it is guaranteed to show up within a week!

lol.. exactly why I don't use the library, it's way more expensive than buying every book we need/want used either online, in thrift stores, or at yardsales. Heck half the time it's cheaper to buy them new on amazon than what the library says they are worth.

One thing that helps us that the library allows us to "read off" fines twice a year. With five cards in our family, they can REALLY build up!

To my knowledge, there is no difference between the hardback and the library editions but the price.

Actually, library editions are studier built, because they assume they'll be read again and again and again. Supposedly they can take a lot more abuse. (Or at least, that's how it once was....)
