Long story short, we have a very specific family tradition each year. One gift at Christmas then three gifts at epiphany representing myrrh, gold, and frankincense. I'm having a very hard time figuring out what my Wigglebutt's frankincense gift should be.

His younger sister will be getting yet another new Bible- she already has Jesus Storybook and The Beginner's Bible (well, plus a tiny leather pink Bible given to her when she was dedicated at church, but that's an heirloom) and the new one will be The Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes. Next year it will be yet another new one, "My First Hands On Bible"... see the theme here? She's gonna get new bibles each year, each one progressively getting more and more closer to the real grown up type Bibles that we have.

But with my Wigglebutt... :sigh: :| I'm at a loss. Last year, I got him a veggies tale dvd. He hated it. He was bored with it. So dvds are probably out this year. He's the mental level of a 18 month old, so bibles are over his head at the moment. The only books he will tolerate sitting still to read with me are the touchy feely books by Usborne "that's not my _____". Is there a touchy feely Bible perhaps?

The problem with a lot of biblical play sets are that they are choking hazards. If it's not safe for under 3, it's not safe for my son. Whatever I buy him WILL end up in his mouth at some point.

I was thinking felt bible story sets... until I saw the prices. Do you know of any basic felt bible story set that are about $20, our budget for his gift. The most comparable item I could find is this... http://www.christianbook.com/read-s...W&netp_id=613536&event=EBRN&view=details#curr and I might just buy this, but... maybe y'all have better suggestions?

Fisher Price Little People have a nativity set. I know it isn't a book, but it is biblical. I think they also make a Noah's ark set.

It is very easy and cheap to make your own flannel board pieces. All you need is thin, non-fusable interfacing, which you can get at a fabric/craft store. Just ask and I'm sure someone can point it out. Then find the images you want to make (coloring book images are easiest). Trace them using a pencil onto the fabric and color them in with colored pencils or fabric markers. I've made a few sets this way.

Oh and all that the board itself is, is a piece of felt glued onto a piece of cardboard. I never understand why they cost so much.

Yes, they stick just as well as normal felt pieces. :)
