We're working until the 21st too, but we've been "off" or "very little" for about a month due to traveling. So now we have 8 packed days, then "totally off" traveling again until Jan 2. Definately a flexible homeschool schedule around here. ;)

    Sigh....

I'm way behind in my cookie baking. Tomorrow we're going to my Dad's to help set up his tree. If we don't do it, he won't bother at all, now that Mom is gone. I've got to take the kids one day this week to get pictures taken, and we've not even bought the gingerbread house yet. If I could justify it, we'd stop all academics right now and concentrate on Christmas, but that would be three weeks off, and I can't do that! So we're going on half-mode at least this week. Next week, I'm not sure, because I don't know when DH's Christmas break starts. Once he's home, we're fnished until he starts back. And Phillip has only about three lessons to finish his math. We've got the new stuff ready to go (came on his b-day; he said it was a GREAT b-day until he got THAT present, lol!), but I told him that when he finishes, he's done with math until after the New Year.

December 23rd. Yes. MOM stands for Mean Old Mama. HA HA HAHA!!!! Actually, I gave my kids the option of going a week into June or working the week before Christmas, they chose this....so I don't feel bad.

BUT, I also told them that if all their work is done before the 23rd, that was fine, they just had to do all the work I have on the schedule by that date. My oldest will probably done by the 20th. My middle, not sure, he's not a doubler like my oldest....and my youngest, I have her planned to be done by Monday except for fun stuff.

    :)

We are going to work (hopefully) up until Dec 24th (we will do some fun things on Christmas Eve), and if not, then definitely up until the 23rd :)

We're done on Friday and we'll be off until the 2nd. We're moving to a new house this weekend, so I'll be happy if we get much of anything done this week since I also have to pack.

I'm letting my homeschooler decide simply because he lives 1.5 hours away from me and all his ps friends are off beginning the 19th. However, his family (his mom and I are first cousins) is headed to our house on the 18th for an early Christmas dinner, and he mentioned just staying over and going ahead and working a few days next week. We're ahead right now and he really wants to start sophomore year early (he's a year behind, currently, of where he should be), so he feels like we've got some momentum going. ;) Regardless of if he chooses to begin his break on the 19th or the 23rd, we'll still come back on January 3rd, I suspect.

How the heck to you teach a kid who lives that far away? (Not being obnoxious, just honestly curious how it's done!)

He stays with me 4 days a week. We work together in the evenings after I get home from work, but he does a lot on his own during the day as well; along with doing Science completely on his own during the 2-3 days he is not with me. He does some household "outdoor" chores with my dad during the day, also, which is wonderful because he doesn't have a father figure in his life -- so this is so beneficial on many levels for him, plus a huge help to my dad!

His mom and I shuttle him back and forth; fortunately she works exactly halfway between our houses, so we often meet up. Sometimes she drives him all the way over before going to work (she has to be at work at 11, so it's not super early, but definitely a lot driving). He has a learner's permit and so he helps with the driving, but of course can't drive by himself.

We are working only on math and language arts through the move. I had planned to do a Chrismas study this week and then take two weeks off. With this quick move, I need every minute possible for getting ready. Just doing what we have to do!

We are planning on working till the 23rd. I wrote out a schedule of what work I am expecting to be completed. If it is finished before that, I told my son he could start his vacation early. It is going to be interesting next week, we are still working at school, while my husband will have the week off. We rarely get anything done when he is around! We will take off until Jan 2nd.

We were finished our formal homeschooling on Friday. The kids have some outside classes that are finishing up this week, and we have plenty of holiday day trips planned and outings and activities with friends. I needed this break...it couldn't have come sooner!

My kids assumed Christmas started the day after Thanksgiving so they were pretty shocked to learn they actually had to do school the month of December! I learned a long time ago that the more time we take off, the harder it is to pick back up. I'm going to try to keep them going till the 22nd, but honestly, I'm ready for a break now!LOL

Our last day was the day before Thanksgiving. We always take off Thanksgiving through New Years Day. Ems still goes to her piano lessons and attends choir practices as well as youth group. But academically, our books are closed.
