We knew when we moved that there would be the option to relocate about every year. Well, DH found out yesterday that his supervisor is pretty set on us moving again... in June. Lol. I type this surrounded by boxes that I haven't yet unpacked thinking that I might just throw them all in storage for 6 months.
That is so hard. I remember when we had to put everything in storage and live with my parents for a year. What a nightmare. I would just take enough out to make this house a home and not a stop by. I think the kids need that in order to feel settled. I know June is just around the corner but to children its a million light years away. God Bless and I am glad you have such a optimistic attitude!
YIKES!!! I agree with Christine...only unpack what is necessary to make things homey and livable until then!
I think you should unpack everything. Even if you're moving in June, you want to feel home for the next 6 months. When we transferred to GA, we received word 6 weeks in that we were moving NC. We still unpacked everything. We didn't end up moving for another 3 years. You have to live your life in the moment. Not based on what might happen in 6 months. My fear would be that if you didn't unpack, you would feel in limbo. For months.
I can't imagine having to move again that soon. I am too old for all of that! I will be praying for you as you unpack and get everything settled. Beth
Awe, that's crazy! I kind of agree with what love5c said. Because of the life that you lead, you will likely be moving often. Make each home a "home" and not just a temporary camp out. Does all that moving help you to simplify your belongings? I think a good move would be motivation for me to clean out and get rid of stuff.
Before we moved here (last week), we had lived in the same house for almost 8 years. Plus, we had moved from another house in that same small city, so we made frequent trips between the houses and just moved all the stuff. There hadn't been any serious declutter, well, ever. I knew we had to make this move in one fail swoop, since we'd only have the moving truck one day. You would not believe the amount of stuff we got rid of. I mean, it was staggering! I got at least a van load of donation items out of every. single. room. Plus stuff that was really just trash! We took several loads to the dumpster at work (with permission) plus all the stuff our residential service picked up. PLUS I've already gathered up another whole box to donate from stuff I've unpacked!!!!
Lol. No. Just to another part of Little Rock. (Hopefully actually IN Little Rock this time, and not way out in a surrounding town.)
Oh WOW!!!! That's a lot of stuff But hey, who knows what I would all find if I had to pack it all up!
I still haven't unpacked everything from our move a year ago. If you will be moving soon I would unpack what you need and keep the rest packed.
Well, until we started packing and he truly had to face the results, my husband lived a "what if" kind of life. Not in the healthy preparedness sort of way, in the "I might need that shattered chair leg to repair something else someday" kind of way.
Hey Amie! What ever happened with your husband and that jousting video application he submitted? Did he get a call back?
Wow, at least this time, it should be an easier move, not far away, so you can do it in trips instead of that long drive. You will have more time to find what you really want in your house, also. Just a little bright side, lol We hould also be moving in the summer time again. So wierd. We will be moving about 2 hours away, to Fayetville. He was offered to start a store in Tulsa, OK. but Fayetville will be better for us.
