I'm considering getting Lasik this Spring but am wondering what the recovery time is like. I know it will partly be based on blade vs. laser, but I don't know what options are available around here. I'm mostly trying to decide if it's even possible, given that I can't take off from life for more than a day. lol. If I need to, I could probably spend the weekend with the in-laws so they can help with the boys, but I'd still have to make a 5 hour drive home within three days of the surgery. Also, if you know of anything in particular I should be looking for in a doctor, feel free to throw it out there.
My brother had his done in Canada because at the time it was a lot cheaper. He drove home the next day. I tease him, because he still needs glasses to read, but he's too vain to put them on so he does the arm-extended reading when we're in public. The surgery just reduced his dependence on glasses for non-reading activities.
Our oldest son had it done and loves it! He had to have someone drive him home, but was fine the next day. His doctor required a driver for after the surgery. Matthew is a police officer who works night shift so he loves being glasses free. His vision is better than 20/20 now.
DH had it done 2 years ago. I know there is a time period that you are not supposed to drive, but maybe it's only 24 hours or something. I think they usually have a free consult, so you can find out what they can do for your eyes, how much it will cost, etc.
I had it done about 6 or 7 years ago. WONDERFUL! I intentionally scheduled mine for the evening so that I went to bed as soon as I got home. When I woke up I could see perfectly.
