Reason # 8,000 to homeschool...

In what universe is it considered "therapy" to put an autistic kid, or any other kid, inside a duffel bag??? for any length of time? :shock:

 

OH my goodness! I just logged on to share this story here. Talk about a high-blood pressure way to start my day.

 

I saw that as well and was sickened by it !! Hope the parents scream loud, hard and long !! Hope the child isn't traumatized long term because of it

 

They probably confused a duffel bag with a bodysox. Oh my goodness! they are NOT the same thing!

 

Horrible! I wouldn't even read the story...it would upset me too much.

 

The story said the mom knew that a bag of balls was being used for therapy of some sort, but did not know that they were putting the child INSIDE the bag with the top tied shut! I thought the mom had a lot of grace to NOT demand those responsible be fired right away, but suggested that they needed suspension with lots of additional retraining instead. I don't think I would have that much grace....

 

I think I would have tried to stuff the teacher and/or aide into the bag....

 

I think I would have succeeded, Jackie.

 

I'd like to hear the other side of the story.

 

You never will, Nancy. Stories like this worry me, though. Those confidentiality laws are in place to protect students, but in situations like this, I've come to believe the wrong people are being protected.

What in the world? How would teachers even begin to think that's ok?

 

One of us would of went to jail. It probably would of been me. I would of beat her heiney.
