I have several "perfect" pics of my kids sitting nicely in front of the tree in the new Christmas pjs like you would see on a Christmas card. But this one is by far my favorite. My son did something silly for the picture before this (peace signs I think) and the girls cracked up. This is the memory I want them to have of Christmas-having fun and enjoying their family. They probably won't remember one gift they were given this year, but I hope they remember this!
Hahahahaha! Oh my goodness! The tree is actually not upside-down. It's just, uh, missing a few branches from the bottom. This is the first time we have ever had a live Christmas tree. Since we live on the ranch now, my Dh decided that it would be silly to go to the tree farm and pay for a tree when we had perfectly good trees all around us. So we drove around the ranch until we found the "perfect" tree. Dh cut it down on we brought it home only to find that it was (of course) about a foot too tall. It fit in the house, but the top branches were pretty squished against the ceiling. My suggestion was that dh trim the top few branches so that he didn't have to drag it back outside but he said that would ruin the shape of it and we wouldn't have a place to put the star. So, he took it outside and started trimming from the bottom. To do that, he had to remove some branches, creating the lovely shape you see in the picture. We call it our "Christmas bush." I was hoping no one would notice. Ha!
cute picture, at least you are able to have a real tree, my daughter said she never saw one before we went into ACE hardware a few weeks ago..... its just too dry here.
Reminds me of most of the trees we had when I was growing up -- real trees that Daddy cut down. And had to trim up. And make level. And we decorated "around" any flaws...
I love the picture of your kids and I have to ask if that is a cedar tree. That is what my mama always got when we were kids until I developed an allergy to them and we had to switch to pine. By the way, your kids have such cute smiles!
Yes, it is! That's what my dh grew up with so that's what he wanted this year. All the pine trees on the ranch are very Charlie Brown-ish so we went with cedar.
Anyone else have any pics they want to share-maybe not Christmas card worthy, but great memories? The tradition at our house is the read The Night Before Christmas just before the kids go to bed on Christmas Eve. As you can tell, my kids were feeling a bit silly. My son decided to act it out as I read and it was hilarious! I wish we had recorded it. The best part was when he "threw up the sash" (he's six so you can imagine what he did, I'm sure).
Christmas is meant to be FUN, not formal! And your kids look like it's lots of fun!!! Lovely picture!!!
someday, when they are in their 40's, they'll look back at this picture and each person will be able to recall exactly what it was that got them so silly! I love those memories! Wonderful pic.
