A down side to renting (again) is having neighbors below you who are nothing short of disrespectful. While they feel the need to smoke their dope, they need to crank up their "jungle bunny" music so that EVERYONE can hear it (the smell of it permeates into the apartment down by my front door and as much as highly scented stuff bothers me, I have to have something to kill the smell of it). I got just a little bit agitated yesterday after listening to their dog bark for an hour straight and then the loud music so I decided to climb onto the arm of the couch and jump onto the floor to make some noise (rather than go down and confront her... I doubt she would have heard the door anyway). That plan back fired on me !!

Lesson #1: don't do it again
Lesson #2: if I do decide to do it again, wear some shoes !!!
Lesson #3: if I do decide to do it again, I might be better off lifting the end of the couch and dropping it onto the floor instead.

In the end, I hit the floor HARD and I think I chipped a bone in my heel !! It was tender when I did it but I carried on. Turning over in bed last night proved to be quite a challenge. When I got up this morning, there is now a little lump where one didn't exist before my brainy idea, my shoes don't fit and now I'm not bearing my full weight on that foot... oh yes !! That was really smart of me. I REFUSE to go to the doctor about lest I have to tell them what stupid thing I did to get me into this mess so I'll just suck it up and move (hobble) along.

OK, I admit that at this point even though my foot HURTS I am laughing at my stupidity and thought I'd share a little laugh as well (yes, it's ok to laugh).

If I were you I would have done the same thing (and probably would ahve ended with the same result). I hate renting, but I realize that we will never have the money for a house so it is our only option, and you always have neighbors that suck...hard. Look at it this way...you're not living with your parents...liek I am *said while father is putting dishes away behind me during naptime and I say, "Don't do that, boys are sleeping. let me do it when they wake up." And the reply is, "I don't care I'm gunna do it anyway.*

Its only so funny because it is something I would completely do! As my husband likes to say to me, "How do you feel now?" :)

LOL! It is good to laugh at ourselves. I can't count the number of times something seemed good at the time then once I did it, ... lol

    OUCH! Glad you can laugh.

Our neighbors downstairs drove us crazy and, had I had a couch, I would have been tempted to do the exact same thing. Good thing we were just camped on the floor waiting to get into the house, eh?

Did you inherit my old downstairs neighbors??? When I was in grad school, I briefly had some who apparently spent most of their time smoking pot and playing their "music" really loud so that it came up through my floor when I was trying to study. Once I figured out where it was coming from, I wasted no time in knocking (pounding, kicking) their door (keeping in mind that I was the possessor of several levels of blackbelt at that time), and "requested" (firmly!) that they turn the music down. It only took a couple of those "requests" before they moved out (but maybe there were other factors involved, such as them possibly flunking out of school).

It's still tender but I'm bearing more weight on it now than I was initially... certainly goes in my history book of "Dumb things I shouldn't do"

It's an adjustment for sure having to share a home with others especially so when their lifestyle is so completely opposite of ours. When DH had his first surgery, one of the reasons he DIDN'T want the extra mural nurse coming in was because as soon as you walk in our front door you can smell the remnants of pot downstairs and he was incredibly ashamed of it (didn't want the nurse thinking it was us).

I should have just gone downstairs and beat on their door but I didn't firgure they would hear it because the windows were shaking (the music was up so loud) and I don't like confrontation LOL

One can only hope they'll move (or we do) but until then, we just have to put up with it (I guess).

Can you talk to your landlord? That has to be so frustrating! I'm sorry about your heel! Ouch.

They are friends of ours and actually hate confrontation more than we do. I'll be ok - this too will pass and I will have learned a VERY valuable lesson from it
