Jackie that sounds like a good idea doing it all on paper until he can show you why its messing up, if he is just being lazy at his work then he will want to be able to do it on the computer again right?
I have only viewed and sampled TT, so not exactly sure how it works but the part of MUS that I really liked is the papers are here, I copy and run off as many sheets as he needs from the book to work it all out. Then I can redo it with out having to go back and clear anything and compare the work. Can you do that with TT? IF we still home school next year I have MUS for ALG2, but am watching for what else would be good for ds as well just in case he gets bored with it by then.

I don't think so. Also, the second edition has some good quirks that aren't on the first. For example, when he got a 60%, I wanted him to re-do that lesson. You really can't do that with the first, but can with the second (one of the advantages of not buying used!). Also, with TT5, he never opened the textbook. When I bought TT6 from a friend, she didn't have it with the textbook, but I bought it anyway since he never used the one for 5. I did the same with TT7. So I don't have a copy of the problems to give him, like I could have if I had the textbook, too.

I have teens too. Motivation and procrastination are our issues.

I have a minor in Spanish and have taught Spanish I classes. Here are the differences between ser and estar.

Ser usually refers to things that are more permanent like "I am short." It is also for:
Origin and nationality: I am from MN. I am American.
    Time, days, and dates
    Possession: That is my book.
To describe what something is made of
    Professions, religions, and political affiliations
Estar usually refers to temporary conditions about a person like "I am tired today." It is also for:
    Location: Where is the book?
Progressive tense: He is walking to the store. They are writing a book.

    I hope I got them all. :)
Your kids might need to have a little cheat sheet next to them with all of the proper uses until they get used to them.
Studyspanish.com is a great free resource for learning Spanish. Here is a link to the section on ser and estar: ser and estar part 2
    Adios y tenga buen dia.

OK, we had a talk. I told him that his math scores weren't what I expected of him. I told him we switched to TT because he was complaining about Saxon, and he had been doing very well with TT. But now, he wasn't. I told him that MY job was to make sure he learned his math, and if TT wasn't working for him, we'd have to change, possibly back to Saxon. Then I suggested that maybe WRITING OUT each problem would perhaps make a difference.... Well, considering the other option was switching back to Saxon, he didn't give me ANY grief about writing out problems! I told him that if he could pull his grades back up to where they belonged, then I could see that TT was still working and we could stay with it. So it worked today; we'll see how it works in the long run!

We had another math problem today, dh stepped up and explained things easily , same things I was saying wrongly , saying right things but the wrong attitude on my part I guess lol! he got it, and got the answers correct again. Now tomorrow we get to probably do a test.... I guess I was speaking improperly saying that I said it "wrongly".

    My advise from experience....

It wont be long until your kids are old enough to move out and at that point you will be wishing for the noisy house and interaction with your kids. You will miss them. My advise, breathe in and just enjoy the time you have with them as teenagers.

OH I do relish the moments Katie. I was just saying the other day that even with all the attitudes I get with my teens, and the times I had with "wild boy" in his preschool years I am so grateful to have had each moment with my kids. I have one that is working towards getting his car to so he can move out. ( He is responsible enough to think of needing his own transportation so I am proud of that) and then dd is about to go to transfer U. soon so I know that as he Bible says "this too shall pass" I just some days wish it would pass a little softer heheh.

    :)

Ds15's attitude has been fine since a year or so ago.....it's Dd12 that is coming into the 'tude phase now. At least it was not both at the same time.
