Hello! I am new to this forum, and the whole homeschool journey. We took our boys, age 11 and 7 out of public school and began homeschooling them this past September. I am having some difficulty staying focused and on track and think that maybe I should have gone ahead and ordered a boxed curriculum for this year. Cost has been only one of the reasons I didn't. Usually I would find some things I really liked in a boxed curriculum, and others I didn't -- no one boxed set seemed to be completely what I like or want. I like a CM approach, but don't feel completely committed to that. I think many CM philosophies can be incorporated into other styles, like Unit studies. I also work part-time (mornings), so the more my children (particularly older ds) can do independantly the better. I'm hoping that you ladies can offer opinions and advice on various curricula etc. Has anyone used KONOS? I hear Sonlight is good but very intensive and I've heard alot of people say it's stiffling. I really want to be able to teach both together as much as possible. One other concern I have with boxed curricula is the fact that most of them seem to have a heavy American content. Any suggestions or comments welcome! Thanks!
Welcome here I'm in Canada as well. My oldest is only 4 1/2 so I don't have a lot of experience with curriculum yet, but that should come soon One good Canadian Social Studies curriculum that was recommended to me was Donna Ward. I'm looking forward to using her curriculum in a year or two.
