The difference is, though, that you still have to buy containers to put IN those free lunch bags. In things like the GoodByn or Planet Boxes, you don't have to buy containers like sandwich bags or single-serving snacks. They pay for themselves in the long-run. If you use them a bunch, that is. (Which, anymore, we do)
Did anyone mention that tuperware has tiny containers that will work perfect? Rubbermaid or Glad does too. Small sauce sized containers.
But you have to wash them each time? What's the difference in buying reusable containers to put in a bag?
I think the idea was to NOT toss anything, because that isn't eco-friendly. But I will say that that's a WHOLE LOT of baggies to make up the cost of one $50 lunch bag!

Additional necessary information: I don't mind the GoodByn boxes because they're BPA-free and philate-free. However, most regular plastic containers are not. DS is extremely sensitive to BPA; it's a migraine trigger for him. So I'd have to buy high-dollar containers anyhow. It's not just about being eco-friendly for us; it's also about avoiding chemicals.
Yep the Tupperware ones were mentioned. It worked out cheaper for me to get the tins I got. And Rubbermaid and Glad ones are MUCH too big to fit in our boxes. The problem is solved; I got flat tins for dips and small glass bottles for sauces.
I do reviews for a friend's blog, so I got my first Planet Box free and fell in love with it! I saved up and bought my second one a few months later. I can honestly say it's totally worth it! The actual box will last for a really long time (possibly forever?) and the newest outer bags are really durable and will last for years too. They are also much bigger than they seem in pictures and hold quite a bit. I totally love them and the kids do too. Totally worth their price tag, IMO. They are pricey, but saving up and buying one at a time is a good plan. We just bought new totes and the silverware for the boys for Christmas. Originally I had the first version tote and it wasn't that fantastic. When I bought the 2nd, I got the 2nd version and this newest one is WAY better. Their customer service is awesome too and they really do right by their customers. I can't say enough good things about the Planet Boxes.
They are also in stock at Pottery Barn Kids now and you can get coupons there too. You don't need all the extras, for sure. We hardly use our "dippers" anyway, so they probably aren't necessary. I'm extremely eco-friendly. I always expect to pay more on most things in order to keep from being wasteful and buying things that are chemical-filled. It's worth it to me, but not for everyone. I have many friends and family members that think I'm crazy for spending more on recycled products, organic/natural stuff, and other eco-friendly stuff but I say to each their own. It's just how I am. I love Goodbyn's and have always wanted one to use as a back up. Since I have Planet Boxes though, I've never been able to justify buying a Goodbyn too. Maybe someday I'll luck out on a deal or win one myself.
I still can't see it! HOWEVER, Amie, the migraines put it into a different catagory altogether. $30 (or even $50!) would well be worth a pain-free child!!!

Thanks! I actualy bookmarked them for our ladies conference! We always have stuff to give away and specialty items on sale, I can imagine either scripture cards in the tins or home made lotions. We have a lady who put together things in some cheaper looking containers but they did not sell right away. And I want the blue cobalt jars for my rosemary and other herbs in the garden they will go with my kitchen even!
