I began my venture into homeschooling last fall when my cousin's son needed some help getting back on track academically. At that time, J thought he would only be homeschooling for one year. And actually, he thought he might homeschool for one semester and then do a military / Coast Guard school for the next semester -- all of which were requirements to get back into his regular public school. Well, fast forward to this week (obviously he never did the military school) and our discussion about next year. We've danced around the subject of next year before, but last night I point blank asked him what he wanted to do next year. I needed to know so I could decide if going to the homeschool convention next month was worth my days off work and money. HE'S GOING TO HOMESCHOOL NEXT YEAR!!! I've prayed and prayed about this. I feel deep inside this is the best decision for him, on many different levels. But, it had to be his decision. I'm just beyond excited and I had to share. Not many would understand how heavy on my heart that was. But, I know you guys would relate in here. Had I not been driving while we were talking last night, I may have started jumping up and down! haha Now, I get to be more serious about choosing / researching curriculum next year!! (goodbye CLASS!!!!) I can't wait! I'm really excited about some of the options I've got on my list and I can't wait to go check out those items plus some new stuff at the convention!
Woo hoo!!!! Very, very happy for you both. My kids went back to public school for a couple years while we built our house, but they both requested to homeschool again. Even though we would have anyway, they owned their choice and it made a huge difference in their attitude and motivation.
