Curious to know who is going to continue or stop for the summer.
I am getting out the MUS stuff and finish all that up and teach my younger two cursive. They are not teaching cursive in the school. I still have Explode the Code books that DS8 or DD7 finished so that will be a good review for them. Nothing hard but something to keep them busy for at least a hour or so each day.

We school in the summer. I will take a week or two off in July but that is about it.

We'll do a very short summer term in June, take July off, and start back in Aug. We're doing a unit study on Rome and going back to pick up the history readers that we left off for Latin for Children A & B. We'll probably do history reader C throughout the regular school year next year. Not sure. (We'll also continue with IXL.com for math practice, and of course Bible always, but not much else.)

The plan is to do this again, but with Greece, the following summer.

Yes. Rough year with my depression, then appendectomy, then Dh's surgeries, and my depression (finally medicated! woot woot!)

We have some serious time to make up with math for sure. The other things are not nearly as worrisome to me, although Ds is accumulating credits for hs graduation, so he will need to tie up some loose ends in biology and LA.

We take as long a break as the boys can stand in the spring, (we're on break now) as soon as they get restless we'll do some 'bridge' work until our next school year officially starts (July 1st)

My kids don't do well with long breaks without some structure.

We usually school year-round because we tend to take our time with things through the school year. This year, though, the older two are complaining that they want a "real" summer with no school. So for the most part we will take the whole summer off. My older has to finish the science textbook the charter gave her before school starts again, but that's it.

We normally school year-round taking breaks when needed. This summer we wont be taking a break because my baby is due in Sept. And I know we will be taking the fall off.

It had been my goal to school at least some in the summer. It's a goal I had to give up. We're gone too much. The kids have camp, my parents use to take them for a while, we would try to go somewhere.... So now I'm much more relaxed about summers. We'll do what didn't get finished, or if a child is taking a class in the fall, and really needs to have something done by then, but even then we try to be layed back. I've already warned Faythe and Phillip that I feel they're "behind" in history, and will probably be doing that this summer!

We'll be continuing for most of this summer, too. DH has Thursdays and Fridays off right now, so we usually work on Thursday, but take Friday off. We still have 73 days to meet the requirements. Last time I counted it up, it looked like it would be the middle of July sometime, but I didn't count the week the kids will be at camp or any vacation time for us, so it may be later than that. My kids get bored and fussy within a week or two anyway, so it's easier just to keep going.

We may be continuing. We don't have a really big reason not to continue. Especially because J would like to graduate a bit early. If we do go through summer, we'll probably take a week or two off here or there according to his friends' schedules and activities coming up. And mine as well -- I know I'll be going to visit friends in Texas at the end of July for a week.

Yes, probably. But I'm planning a much more relaxed approach, mostly to just finish what I had planned this year, since we were gone a lot due to FIL's illness. Also want to do some unit studies, and more reading...
Its too hot to play outside in the afternoons anyway!

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one thats planning to school through summer. My husband calls me a drill sargent and that our daughter needs a summer. I'm planning to cover one subject a day or maybe a week (haven't really decided yet) and reading every day.
Good to know I'm not the only "drill sargent" :)

We'll continue through the summer just since we seem to work best with a routine. Mine are pretty young still, and we do actual school work only 3 days a week or so, so it works out.

We had a very rough school year (lots of family illnesses and two surgeries) last year and did some math and current events over the summer. I always do a 4th of July assignment of some sort and the kids do the summer reading program at the library. This summer DS will be working on math and writing to get ready to head back to public school (9th grade) in the fall. DD will working on math and writing to keep fresh.

I am definitely going to do school as much as possible over the summer. That being said, the kids will be in camps, we'll be going on vacation, and spending some time with out of town family. Maybe a 2 week on, week off type thing for schoolwork.
Normally, I only allow video games Friday & Sat, and holidays... I am the fence on if we'll keep that up or if I'll allow more (pretty much TV too except sports events). My husband thinks they should be allowed free reign with the electronics during summer, I just don't agree - I'm for none, ever. We'll probably do the 2 weeks on like normal, then the week off allowing video games/TV - to an extent.

We will be doing a little bit. DS is already ahead, but we are kind of in the middle of some things at the moment. We will mainly be doing Math, Reading and Language Arts. If we finish early, then that will be fine. I don't think he will though....

We will be doing our Latin For Children reader each week over the summer. We might have to do one read aloud, just depends if we get caught up. June and July are usually pretty busy for dd. She does a soccer camp, VBS programs and swimming so I do not normally do much work then. Those are usually my planning months. I will start her Math and Spelling the begining of August and then we start up full time towards the middle/end of August. I like being done mid May when things start getting busy around here (used curriculum sales, convention).

I am a drill sergeant too..according to DH. In Dh's family, school is seen as a tedious chore, so naturally forcing kids to do that over the summer would be too much. Except for most hs kids, learning is exciting and fun, even when its hard. Doing something you enjoy over the summer is fine.

-or so I argue with DH-
