Maybe this is the wrong time of year, but I'm not seeing any plan threads! ACK!

So, tell us the grades/ages of your kiddos and your plan either for this current year (spring starters) or this coming year (fall starters), or both, or whatever. Going to a sale tonight and need to wrap my head around what I need to get! I have a list of a few things but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. ;) Thanks bunches and I'll be back to post my plan -- won't change much from what's in my signature.

Ours is kinda weird because we use radical acceleration combined with a mostly classical teaching style. Here are my plans for 2012-2013 (Fall start). The older is 6 and will be in 4th grade (1st grade "on paper", 4th year HS'ing, current subjects range from 3rd to adult mastery, with Woodcock-Johnson overall score of 5th). Younger is 3 and will be in 1st (current subjects range from 1st to 2nd, currently working about 15 min/day, 1-2 days per week).

4th (planning appx 2-3 hours per day, 4 days per week) - R&S Bible 6-7, R&S Eng 5-6, Latin for Children C, Seq Sp Adult, Miquon 5-6, IXL 3-4, Pentime Cursive 3-4, EPS Comprehension 1-2 (5th-6th), EPS Reasoning & Reading (7th-8th), R&S Art, WorldlyWise 5th-8th; Scouts (if time), OT, & PT

1st (planning appx 30 minutes per day, 2-3 days per week) - Bible (my own curriculum through the major stories in one year), Miquon 1-2, LoF Elementary series, ETC 5-8, HWT K-1, Abeka Manuscript K, Song School Latin, Kumon Art, WorldlyWise 2nd-3rd

TOGETHER - Bowling League, Piano, Apologia Zoology 1 & 2, Galloping the Globe, Geography Songs, GeoDice/GeoPuzzle, strategy board games

Oh My Word!! I am so overwhelmed right now trying to wrap my head around what we're going to do next year. Once I get it scheduled, it won't be bad ( I don't think!) We are shifting to Charlotte Mason and I am in drowning mode. My oldest will be grade 6 and middlest grade 4 along with a pre-schooler and hopefully a new baby too.

I am so totally in planning mode here! :)

I will have an 8th Grader, 6th Grader & 2nd Grader next year! CRAZY!

All three kids will be using:

Rome, Reformers & Revolutionaries (by Diana Waring) for History
Who Is God? (by John Hay & David Webb) for Bible
Literature that goes with the History Chapters w/ either a book review of each book, or a Daily Response Form with summary of chapter, words to look up, and copy work on it.

    8th Grader:
Exploring Creation with General Science (class at a local church - YAY...hate teaching Science!)
    Vocabulary from Classical Roots B
Apples Daily Drills 2 (she did 1 this year, I love it!!!) this is spelling.
    IEW Medieval Set for Writing
Daily Grams Jr/Sr. High - not sure about this b/c she's going to do a "Movies as Literature" class in our Co-op so I might actually use extra activities from that curricula and make it more her L/A
Teaching Textbooks - finish Pre-Algebra if she doesn't finish it over the summer, start Algebra 1 if she does.
She'll also be taking Advanced Painting, Drama and Virtual Life from our co-op.

    6th Grader
    Vocab from Classical Roots 6
    A Reason for Handwriting F
Easy Grammar 6 - not sure about this...he's done 3 years of EG...thinking of letting him do a year or two of Daily Grams instead....we'll see....or finding something else for Grammar b/c as much as I LOVE EG, he does not!
    A REason for Spelling F (I think!)
    Teaching Textbooks 6
Science - not sure yet, this is done at our co-op, so I don't know what they're doing. I also usually try to do some of the science suggestions from our History program.

    2nd Grader
    A Reason for Handwriting B
    A REason for Spelling B
    Horizons 2 for Math
CLP Nature Readers for Science (she's did K & 1 last year, 2 & 3 this year, so I might let her do 4 & 5 next year....she loves them....will probably try to get her some more science booky type readers, too. She LOVES science a lot....so I want to get a few experiment kits for her to play with, and also we'll grow plants, raise butterflies, etc.)

I think this is it!!!! LOL :)

I should mention that I try to wrap as much as I can around our history, so I'll add whatever I can to make it match when I can. :)

ETA: All three kids will be doing the age appropriate God's World News Magazines for current event type stuff. And I'm sure we'll do something to cover the elections this fall.

    Kindergarten Alpha Omega workbook
Math - ABeka Numbers Skills K, IXL membership
English/Languge - ABeka Spelling and Poetry 1, ABeka Letters and Sounds 1, Hooked on Phonics
    1st grade, Reading eggs membership

Reading - ABeka Read and Think 3, Reading Eggs
Science - Spectrum Science 3 workbook, Apologia (as group)

    Math - Saxon 5/4, IXL
English - ABeka Spelling and Poetry 4, ABeka Language 4
Writing - Cursive Handbook, ABeka Creative Writing
Reading - ABeka Read and Think 4, Reading Eggs
Science - Spectrum Science Workbook 4, Apologia (as group)
Social Studies - New World History and Geography, plus Maps and Activities

Here is our plan (for now, lol!):

    4th grade DS:
Barton (complete LA program for dyslexia)
Adding in some Writing Strands and LLATL Orange if we can
    Reading Detective (fun supplement)
    Vocabulary from Classical Roots 4
Teaching Textbooks 5/6 (halfway through 5 right now)
    Life of Fred
    Math Detective (fun supplement)
    Story of the World Ancients
    Typing Island
R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey and some SOS Science
    Science Detective (fun supplement)
    Mind Benders
Mark Kistler online art lessons (DS LOVES it - he loves to draw!)
Meet the Masters Art (I am ALMOST sold on this one!)
    Prima Latina
Maybe some very light and fun Spanish (he could not stand Spanish at his school, so I want something just to make it fun for a year)
    Continue piano lessons

    2nd grade DD:
    Barton LA
    Horizons 2 Math
    Life of Fred
    Story of the World Ancients
Meet the Masters (almost positive about this, though not 110% quite yet)
Some sort of Spanish (she LOVED it in her school in K, so gotta strike while the iron is still hot!)
    Prima Latina
    Mind Benders
    Typing Island
    Continue speech and language therapy
    Continue Occupational Therapy

I need to find some fun homeschool opportunities where we will be moving; hoping there are some neat things to do, especially coming from such a homeschool-rich area in DC!

Wait I'm supposed to plan something??? No wonder things are chaos around here! lol

    No really, I've planned.

We started in March a trip around the world. This will take the remainder of this school year and all of next school year to complete. My oldest also just recently started level 2 of AAS. We'll just work through that until the end of June and pick up wherever we leave off in mid-August. We'll be schooling from mid August to the end of June. I school at a pretty relaxed pace averaging at about 3 school days a week. As my kids get older I anticipate that changing.

    So for the fall:

    Kayd - 2nd grade
    math - mus
    reading - interest led
writing - some practice with letters he still doesn't form properly - handwriting without tears if necessary.
read alouds - I've got the list of chapter books sonlight core A uses and I'll work through the ones our library has.
grammar - scott foresman grammar - free printables online - we like this a lot
    spelling - all about spelling
social studies - Around the world - using various resources and ideas and making it up as we go along.
science - Usborne science activities book
art - the free art studies from Erica at Confessions of a Homeschooler

    Colton - kindergarten

math - mus primer if I can get it cheaply
reading - Ordinary parents guide to teaching reading and reading eggs
writing - just continue with practice. I hate to say it but he writes much nicer than my 6yr old!

social studies, art, and science with my 2nd grader

    Sawyer - pre-k
letter of the week activities from confessions of a homeschooler
    reading eggs
social studies, art, and science with the older two

    Sierra - tot school
I'm planning to create a few tot school bins for her each week. She also has color wonder markers and papers to draw, and she loves crayons and paper.

So I do feel a bit overwhelmed but we'll get through it. lol

My kiddos LOVE Reading Eggs! I like it because its free due to all the promo codes! My kids like the "video game" quality - they aren't allowed to play during the week. I let them on Reading Eggs as a fun/reward type thing after schoolwork is done, or first thing in the am, before our school day starts. I actually prefer Reading Eggspress over the Eggs. My 7, 8, & even 10 year old love to buy stuff for their avatar, but they have to do a lesson in the library and 1 of each game in the stadium, which they actually like. The library has alot of non-fiction books my older ones are interested in, too. Have you looked at the Eggspress side? It actually gets pretty difficult at the highest levels. My boys also are trying to beat each other in their "reading" and "comprehension" ages =)
The Eggs side is very repetitive which can be good, but my 5 y/o gets a little bored, especially since she is learning so fast due to the hours she spends (willingly) on Hooked on Phonics and her workbook. I think I am going to re-test her and get her moved up.
All in all, I do like it but I don't think I'd pay for it, and it definitely needs supplementation - I wouldn't consider it an all inclusive learn to read program.

ARG I got a good post going and accidentally deleted it.

I should be in bed but the babies aren't cooperating. *sigh* I'm so tired of this. I could vent, but I guess I won't in this thread. ;)

Here's what it's looking like for this year. Our curricula all cycle at different times, starting about now and through the summer. Now is when we have tax return so it's generally when I plan and buy. I call the kids as whatever grade they would be in PS, but since we school year round it doesn't really work out that way; plus they are all over the map academically. LOL But anyway, here's how it's shaping up:

    13 years old, 7th / 8th for fall
Bible not sure yet, has liked CLE
Grammar R&S 6 through summer, hopefully 7 in the fall
Writing mostly included, might add Foundations to Writing by Learning Success
Vocab Eng From the Roots Up V1
Reading Literature from Illuminations, in conjunction with MOH2
Math MUS Epsilon and Zeta, hopefully through Zeta by fall and start Pre-Alg
    History Mystery of History 2
Geography The Ultimate Geography and Timeline Guide (I think)
Science SOS 7, thanks to a wonderful church friend!

    9 years old, 3rd / 4th for fall
Bible looking like R&S Bible and Nurture 3
Grammar First Lang Lessons through summer, hopefully start R&S 3 in fall
    Writing copywork, Writing With Ease...
    Spelling Spelling Power
Vocab not sure if we'll start, maybe in fall, probably Words Are Wonderful 2
Reading hopefully literature with ILM2, also novels as read alouds...
    Math MUS Gamma
    History MOH2
    Geography Hands-On Geography
Science not sure, maybe CKE Earth & Space. Definitely supplementing with lapbooks and unit studies and might just make a whole course from those.

7 years old, 2nd / 3rd grade for fall... but kinda behind
Bible looking like R&S Bible and Nurture
Grammar First Lang Lessons, then R&S 3
    Writing copywork, Writing With Ease...
    Spelling Houghton-Mifflin workbooks
Reading novel reading, maybe ILM2 literature, probably World Book levelled readers
    Math MUS Alpha/Beta
    History MOH2
    Geography Hands-On Geography
    Science maybe CKE, lapbooks

    Extras for all:
    Scouting is our main one!
    Music at home by Mom.
Art... still looking for something workable.
Hope to find a co-op for fall, looking for art, music, PE.
Might join a Boys and Girls Club through our insurance if we can find one close enough.
And I'm going to look into YMCA locally, depending on what these others bring about.
