For the first time since our first year (when I started the school with two 9th grade boys), I'm certain of starting high school in the fall! I have so much to think about for this one student...

This year we started with Lifepac Bible 8, which we may finish (or not) by the end of school, Reading 7 with the idea of finishing it in the first semester and doing 8 in the second but we went with Abeka 8 instead which we will not finish by the end of school, R&S English 5 but we moved up to 6 between chapters and are currently about halfway through the book, CLASS spelling 6, Pentime cursive 6, CLE Math 4 which we'll finish in about two weeks or so, Abeka science 8 which we finished way early (without the health component) and moved on into R&S 7/8, and a public school state history which we will finish about a month before school ends. As soon as we finish math 4, we'll spend the rest of the year on the extra practice books from CLE on fractions, algebra, and geometry, then retest and see where she places after that. Hopefully, at least 7th maybe 8th?

I'm still praying about whether to sign up my school with the CLE School Records and Support program. If I do, my student can graduate with an accredited diploma even though my school is not itself accredited. She'll just have to do at least 3 CLE courses per year, which shouldn't be a problem. They have 3 "levels" of diploma: Academic, General (regular), and Vocational.

If the 3rd grader's mom gets hired on permanently, and she's still here next year, we'll just continue with what we're doing, take up where we left off, and move into 4th when we get there. CLE Bible, Reading, changing to CLE for LA, continuing CLE math, R&S science until finished then changing to Considering God's Creation, and R&S social studies, starting next year with a unit on state history before moving on into either R&S or CLE world geography. I'm also considering doing R&S 2 Phonics with her next year, because she really needs it -- she reads just fine but can't spell for beans and has no clue about "short sounds", "long sounds", or syllables, never mind the diacritical markings.

Praying I get to have dgs back again next year. We'll probably finish first grade math this year, but I'm having serious doubts about the reading and LA. He just needs lots of practice reading, but he hates doing anything over that he's already done, so I'm considering not starting the Reading 100 until next fall and putting the LA on hold to match, and just finishing out the year with the Lifepac LA 1 and all the preprimers/primers/first readers I can lay my hands on -- Dick and Jane, old Ginn Basic readers, some Abeka ones, Pathway readers, and Christian Liberty ones. Next year I'll have him do CLE Bible 1 and 2 since we didn't do 1 this year (they're only a half-year each). Science and social studies, I'm torn -- whether to have him do the CLE 1 and 2, or to just continue our "little units" that we didn't get to this year, or do the Christian Liberty 2 science and their K and 1 social studies (which I have used before and I like).

And then ... who knows who may show up on our doorstep next fall?

DD1 is working through CLE Learning to Read right now, we'll keep going with that till she is done, probably slowing down a bit through the summer. When she is done that I'm not sure what we'll do next. I'd really love to try out Sonlight (I'd get Core A with Gr1 Readers) but I don't think DH will go for it because of the price :( So we may just move on to CLE grade 1.

DD2 will probably start all the CLE K books when she is 3 1/2. Right now she is working on her cutting and pasting skills,

I'm still working on the scheduling, but I know what I want to get done.

    3rd grade:
    Math: Saxon 3
L.A.: First Language Lessons Lv3, Writing with Ease Lv2, Spelling Workout C, Cursive First
History: Story of the World 3, also thinking about starting US history
Science: chemistry, either just experiments or R.E.A.L. Science lv1
Foreign Language: La Classe Divertida lv1
We also do computer skills, logic puzzles, and Cub Scouts. I'm planning on adding in more art and music. Possibly nature studies as well.

    Kindergarten:
Math: thinking about doing Saxon 1
L.A.: Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, Cursive First
Foreign Language: La Classe Divertida lv1
He'll be joining his brother for science and history when he wants. They'll be doing art, music, and nature studies together.

Charlotte Mason Grade One for Beau. I don't know when other's start, but we will be starting in August or late July.

I am doing File folder Games for Paddy so he can learn letter recognition, classification, "wh" questions and so on. He will have therapy and "School" all wrapped up into one.

Nothing for Marion! He's perfect just scampering around being a baby right now!

    For fall:

3rd, 6th, and 8th graders will be using MFW Creation to Greeks and I'm thinking Sequential Spelling. Spelling Power does not work for us.

3rd grader:TT4 for math (with maybe some review in the beginning) and Easy Grammar with English for the Thoughtful Child (actually geared toward 2nd, but I forgot I had it and am going to use it anyway)

    6th grader:TT6, Easy Grammar

8th grader(struggling student): TT7 or Pre-Algebra. We may actually do TT7 over the summer and Pre-Alg in the fall. She's motivated to "catch-up" right now, so I'm going with it. Easy Grammar and writing (???? any ideas for students struggling w/written language?)

    11th grader:
Spanish 2-currently using an immersion CD program similar to Rosetta Stone, but would like a co-op class
    World Geography (not sure which)
Apologia Chemistry (hoping for co-op class!!!)
McGraw-Hill Grammar (free online), classic literature
    TT Geometry
    undecided on electives

It's fun reading what everybody will be doing- my danger is looking at everything I have not heard of and confusing myself more! =)

My kids will be 4th and 2nd:
    Both- SL Core C

    4th:
Math- MUS finish Gamma and then Delta
Spelling- Finish AAS 2 and move into 3
Still trying to figure out the rest of LA!

    2nd:
    Math- Possibly McRuffy 2
    Spelling- AAS 2
Possibly try SL LA 2 for her.

Still trying to figure out what to do for science for both and several other things...I hope by June I will have it all figured out! =)

I'm mostly undecided! And / or waffling. I'm headed to a conference next weekend and hope to have some things decided by the time I come home, though.

Now that my cousin has decided he will stick with homeschooling through to graduation (Praise the LORD!! :D ), we will be crushing 10th and 11th grades into a big ball and trying to complete that within a 12ish month time frame (meaning we will likely school year round). I told him, he will be a sopho-nior (a sophomore/junior lol). This should get him a slightly easier senior year, but most importantly graduating on time.

    10th / 11th grader:

Science: Biology, maybe Apologia? maybe some Answers in Genesis materials? SOS? -- undecided!!
Math: Dave Ramsey's Foundations in Personal Finance
(I know I should do Algebra this year, but I desperately want him to learn the dangers of debts and loans and such (from another source than just me) as soon as I can get it in him!) I'll also pull some Pre-Algebra materials from an online source to keep it fresh and do Algebra (Life of Fred???) after the Ramsey course.
History: I was set to do Sonlight, but am not caring for the reviews I hear on Joy Hakim's materials. ; so back on the hunt there. I have some DVDs -- US Presidents and also would like to get Drive Thru History, so I do have a bit of thought there...
Geography: most likely the free Globalmania from knowledgequestmaps.com
Literature: Considering a Movies as Literature type of course and hand picking some classics to read on our own. I'd like to mix in Google Lit Trips here as well, which will cross with Geography.
    Grammar: Likely will be www.dailygrammar.com
Computer Lit: I have my own materials from teaching for 7 years; mostly what I've created on my own.
Possibly Desktop Publishing -- again, I have the materials from my ps teaching days.
    German: Rosetta Stone
Writing: undecided, but he wants to do a section of writing.

I'll probably give him a half a credit for "Life Skills" or something like that -- he helps my dad a ton and is learning a lot, from automotive stuff to installing an entire bathroom, to gardening, to building a bird feeder... the list is endless!

I plan on some field trips as well. Definitely doing Silver Dollar City and going back to the Air Force Museum. Hopefully Cohokia Mounds (preserved to tell the story of the most sophisticated prehistoric Indian civilization north of Mexico.) on the way to Silver Dollar. I'd like to do the Underground Railroad Museum and a Holocaust museum as well, though those may have to wait until the beginning of 2013 when my vacation days at work start over. And just north of me is a 1920s gangster museum I'd like to hit up on a weekend.

Wow! That Daily Grammar looks really cool! I wonder if our diploma program would accept it as a 4 year grammar course for High School??? I would LOVE to get that for my daughter to use when she starts 9th Grade....hmmmmm....I'm sending the link to our evaluator and see what she thinks! I might even start her on that this year instead of using Daily Grams! :)

Also, she's doing the Movies as Literature as a class at our Co-op this year! I'm so curious to see how it works! :)

Did you see the free archive? http://www.dailygrammar.com/archive.html

I think that's what I'm going to use. My grandma pays for the homeschooling materials, so I try to cut corners as much as possible while using quality materials! I'm willing to splurge and get the Dave Ramsey program because I love him, but for grammar, I think the free materials look great.

Kelly - go to your library and check out one of the Hakim books. That's how I looked at the history from Sonlight :) I sat in the library and looked. We are going to use the Hewitt tests which go along with it so I KNOW he knows ;) ($10 from an external source) I especially like them with the other writings that Sonlight has to balance opinions out!

    Reading eggs promo codes??

I am using this with my soon to be 4 year old. Where do you find your promo codes? I have about 40 days left in my free trial and would love to extend it as the budget is tight. He has fun with it and it helps solidify his letters, so I'd like to keep going with it!! Thank you for advice!

I just spend time searching for Reading Eggs Promotional codes. Then I go to the website and put it in; most aren't vaild for one reason or another, but every now and then one works. Last time I did it, I ended up with about 150 days free. Next time I look, I'll post ones that work!

We're pretty relaxed, so for 2012-2013 these are the plans:

DS 14 yrs old (high school): Heading to a brick-and-mortar high school. However, if he chooses to return to homeschooling, he and DD will have similar plans with some adjustments for math (AoPS Intro to Counting and Probability and Intro to Number Theory), Spanish instead of French, etc.

DD 11 yrs old (middle school)
Bible/Character Lessons: Moody Bible Institute online Bible stories and study lessons, and The Book of Virtues character study.
    math: AoPS Algebra 1
vocab/spelling/grammar: continuing with Spelling Wisdom level 3 (the Simply Charlotte Mason dictation program)
art history: continuing with homeschool classes at two local art museums
studio art/jewelry and fashion design: continuing with classes at a local arts and humanities center.
    French: homeschool class
music: piano, flute, plenty of music appreciation experiences at local concert halls and theaters.
history, science, writing: Mainly field trip experiences with some Connect the Thoughts resources thrown in. Continuing botany classes at arboretum.
p.e.: weekly homeschool golf lessons, swimming, possibly continuing with gymnastics (this changes weekly)

DS 9 yrs old (elementary school)
Bible/Character Lessons: Moody Bible Institute online Bible stories and study lessons, and The Book of Virtues character study.
    math: Continuing MEP and Xtramath
vocab/spelling/grammar: nothing formal. Letter writing to pen pals, friends, and family.
art history: continuing with homeschool classes
studio art/animation: continuing with classes at a local arts and humanities center.
music: piano, drums, plenty of music appreciation experiences at local concert halls and theaters.
history, science, writing: Mainly field trip experiences with some Connect the Thoughts resources thrown in. Continuing botany classes at arboretum. Participating in First Lego League club.
p.e.: weekly homeschool golf lessons, basketball, track and field, swimming
