Hi all:love: I've been homeschooling since 1995. Yep, continuously. Of our 6 children, 3 have graduated, and are now married. Next month we see graduate #4 off to Florida, a bit undecided about where he is going from here or there. He's got a tremendous gift for languages though. My husband and I just celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary. Homeschooling has been one of the best decisions we ever made. Though our married children live hours away from us, we are still close to each other. The memories of all years together have been helpful to me as I've adjusted to each one leaving the nest. My prayer is that they will be able to soar with the eagles according to the will of God for their lives. It's been a difficult life for them, growing up in a pastors home, in areas with almost no fellowship or friends. When they were all here, I was lonely, but not as lonely as now. With the end of my homeschool journey just 4 years away, I am wishing I could rewind and go back. It's been such a part of my life, a real mainstay, that I'm not sure what it will be like to stop, and not have to plan for school, submit forms, etc. Certainly I have enough to keep me busy, for I have set aside many interests to give my life and time to my family/children. Thanks for reading my post.
Welcome! This is definitely the SPOT to be! I'm sure your experience and insight will be valued around here, for sure! And I know I personally have made my fair share of friends from this place - we have a good thing going on here! Can't wait to get to know you! BTW, one with an aptitude for languages would be coveted in the military to train as a translator. We aren't military and honestly it's not something I would consider for our family in most cases, but I knew someone in high school who did this and she was trained quickly, effectively, and put to work in a flash. No combat. Just a thought, or thought avenue anyway.
Welcome, it is a great reinforcement to hear about families that have homeschooled and graduated students. I have a first grader, so your insight will be very welcomed.
So glad to see you and other experienced homeschool families here. My son is only 4 and he is my only child so this is new for me and the road is filled with lots of stumbling blocks but hubby and I are committed to homeschooling our son. It's so nice to see veteran homeschoolers to guide the way!
Hello! Sounds like we have a lot in common. I just introduced myself to the forum. It's good to meet another mother of older children. Looking forward to the fellowship.
Welcome. This is a great place to be and you will make many friends here. I have been HSing for 5 yrs. now and wish I could go back to the beginning of my 19yrs. beginning years and start HSing from the beginning. Being in the Lords's will now, however, is a great place to be. I completely understand this, "It's been a difficult life for them, growing up in a pastors home, in areas with almost no fellowship or friends. When they were all here, I was lonely, but not as lonely as now." as this has been hard for my boys and me, too. My 19yr. didn't want to graduate from high school last June because he had no friends to graduate with. Our boys haven't grown up in a Pastor's home, well the older two haven't, but they have been in one for almost five years. Anyway, I just wanted to say, "Welcome and I understand." Jump right in and share all you know!
