I'm a little nervous! We've only ever used AOP curriculum (mostly LPs, with one failed year of SOS for 3 subjects for one boy). Next year I've already got Mystery of History and last night I ordered TT for my oldest. I'll order TT for my #2 son, also, but he's way behind in math, so he won't be done with his current year until sometime this Summer. And I got a biology for kids text that I'm going to use with the older two.

It's a little odd to finally, after 5 years of HSing, break out of the boxed set.

I think you will enjoy it. We used a box set for the first couple years. It worked at the time but once I started assembling our curriculum, homeschooling really become exciting.

    Welcome to freedom.

I so wanted to use a boxed set (lifepacs). I was so excited to order 4 subjects one year. But, in the mean time I had my son try out a couple individual ones and it flopped big time. There went my plans. I was upset at first, but now I am enjoying the freedom.

I am doing the exact opposite this year. I always did a little of this and that. My kids are begging me to for the box set of BJU. I think I am going to break down and get it this year. I am so nervous about that. Being lumped into one thing.

I do miss all the choices, but they have to do the work. Good Luck.

I would say that you did pretty well, to go that long with boxed curriculum. I only lasted a year. Maybe that is because it was ABEKA. We LOVED MOH. Have fun!

Well, I've been a college/grad student since we started HSing. I needed simple. I still need simple, which is why I'm so nervous! The worktexts of the LPs made it easy to a)let them work at their own pace and b)let them work 90% independently. I've never really had to plan anything before. lol. (Other than make sure I have the supplies for roughly a week's worth of stuff each weekend)
