I was looking for some curricula for math (geometry), history (world), and science (chemistry). I had thought of buying MUS ($85). I had thought of buying Mystery of History (around $60). I was also so confused as to what to get for chemistry (anywhere from $100-$200 or more). We have Apologia chemistry and I like it, but it is too fast and deep for my son some times. I got to borrow this set for free from a friend (yeah!) I plan of using it still to a certain extent, but wanted a more simplified chemistry to help my son get through it. So this is what I found: for geometry- Life of Fred (student & answer book) - around $40 history- Rod and Staff Ancient World- I realize this is below his grade level, but I am happy with it for a couple of reasons. I think we can expand on some stuff as we go along (if we want) and I think we will learn some cool stuff. I may only use this for 1/2 or 3/4 of his credit. Heck, he learns a lot of history all on his own anyway. This was about $15 and I still need to buy the Teacher's edition ($15). Chemisty- I bought the Apologia chemistry lab materials (used, but all there) for $30 and I got the student and teacher's books for Power Basics Chemistry- about $20-$30. PLUS, I completed a frequent buyer's card that gave me $30 off my purchase. All in all, I spent about the same amount of money ($87) for 3 subjects that I had thought I was going to spend just on geometry.
wow! great buy.... I even have Mystery of History I want to sell.... too bad you already got history..
How much would you sell it for? I may be up for using more than one source. signed: not quite recovered curricula junkie.
