This is a weird question and I don't know how to find out the answer.

Years ago, there was a reality show that I think was on PBS. It was all the buzz among my then Sunday School class.

I think it was about 8-12 years ago. I only got to watch parts of a couple of episodes but it was about a group of people that were taken out and they had to live like people during a certain time period. I remember in the last episode they showed one of the women who was/had taken a bath, talking about how dirty she was from not having a decent bath in months. They had had to build their houses and church, plant their own food, etc. Set up their little town government. I think I remember there being some friction because they were required to treat a black man (or family) on the show as black people were treated back then. Meaning things like he could attend the church service or run for government positions, hold certain jobs, etc.

I thought with the internet being what it is today if I knew the name of the show I might could find it online for free and it's be GREAT for some homeschool history!

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? LOL I think it might have had the word pioneer or frontier in the title???

frontier house. One of the ladies on it was from my hometown. She said that it was not the way the producers portrayed it. They focused on the drama of people getting (or not getting) along more than the day to day stuff.

The wedding episodes were my favorite. I LOVED how the guy had to have the house fully-operational before he could invite his bride to come join him. There's a great lesson in there.

There is a whole series of "house" shows
    1900's House
    1940's House
    Regency House Party
    Frontier House
    Colonial House
    Texas Ranch House

I loved those shows and they are great for supplementing history. I would suggest them for middle and high school to get the most out of them but some elementary kids might be able to sit through them.

All I knew about was Frontier House!! I had no idea they did other versions! I'll have to look those up; they all sound interesting.

fairfarmhand: I'm not surprised that the producers skewed the vision of the show. Disappointing that they would do that, yet not surprising. Sigh. TV. :/

I loved Frontier House and 1900's House, and I think I saw some of Colonial, but I didn't know there were all those others! How can I watch these now?

I remember those PBS programs. I have the 1900 house on VHS. It was one of our favorite programs. I know that you can see episodes of these programs on youtube. I have seen the 1940s House on youtube recently.
