So proud of my girls' test scores this year. Got them last week, but it's taken me this long to "digest" them.
3rd Grade girl, who enrolled at mid-term:
Total Reading 65th percentile, 5.2 grade equivalent score.
Reading Vocabulary 75th percentile, 5.7 GE
    Reading Comprehension 84th, 7.8 GE
    Word Study skills 18th, 2.4
We've finished 6 units the 3rd grade CLE reading, in our half year. Next year we're going to add R&S Phonics 2, finish the 3rd grade reading and the 4th as well.
Language 56th, 4.9 GE. Only managed to do 2 out of 5 units of R&S English 3 in our half a year. Will likely be switching to CLE for next year.
    Total Math 58th, 4.5
    Problem Solving 48th, 3.7
    Procedures 67th, 5.0
We'll be finishing the half-way point (5th unit) of CLE Math 3 in the next few days. We'll continue it next year and get as far as possible in the 4th grade. It took me a good 6 weeks to catch her up with what CLE taught in the second grade, before we could move into the "real" third grade work.
Spelling 94th, 8.7 GE. If she scored like an 8th grader, spelling must truly be a lost art in public schools, because she can't spell her way out of a wet paper bag!
    Science 83rd, 7.4 GE; Social Science 69th, 5.8 GE
Listening 46th, 3.7 GE; Thinking Skills 70th, 5.6 Total surprise to me -- this kid's as flighty, blase, la-la as they come!
    Complete Battery 66th, 5.4 GE

    8th grade girl:
Total Reading 88th percentile, Post HighSchool
    Vocabulary 70th, 10.7
    Comprehension 93rd, PHS
Although I'd planned to get through both 7th and 8th CLE reading this year, we only got through 7th, and have been "marking time" with Abeka's 8th. We'll pick up both 8th and 9th next year.
    Language 99th, PHS
    Mechanics 96th, PHS
    Expression 98th, PHS
You could've knocked me over with a feather! We started the year with R&S 5th, as a guesstimate based on her seventh grade public school end-year test and the CLE placement test. A couple of chapters in, we switched to the 6th book, and we just today finished the 7th unit out of 11.
    Total Math 42nd, 8.4 GE
    Problem Solving 61st, 9.9 GE
    Procedures 22nd, 5.9 GE
This is part of the reason this child is with me instead of toughing it out in public school again. Last fall she placed into CLE's 4th grade math, after passing public school's 7th grade class and test (Approaching Basic). We finished the 4th and have been doing extra work on the fractions, algebra, and geometry that is supposed to build her up to either pre-algebra or algebra for next fall.
Spelling 72nd, 10.7 GE We'll be doing R&S Developing Better Reading in the fall, so she can "get" syllables and accents.
Science 93rd, PHS Finished all of Abeka 8 science part but skipped the health part completely. Picked up R&S 7th for the rest of this year. Will "construct" Physical Science out of R&S 7/8 and 9/10 next year, by choosing chapters on heat, light, gravity, magnetism, electricity, etc.
Social Science 93rd, PHS Did state history this year, using public school discard.
Listening 76th, PHS; Thinking Skills 75th, 12.3 GE
    Complete Battery 81st, PHS
This girl only scored at the Basic level at the end of 7th grade, according to her state test results. Except for math, which was Approaching Basic. I gave her a CAT/5 at the very beginning of the year, to get a gauge for her achievement level, and was a little surprised at how high she scored -- and here she is at the end of the year, scoring WAY higher!

The girls took the Stanford 10, which by arrangement with the company I have to get done somewhere within the month of April. I would prefer May, but it's April or nothing. I haven't done my grandson's yet. Next week the girls will be done for the year, and he and I can work on a CAT/5 in peace and quiet.

    Gave 3rd grader the CLE placement test for LA, and she JUST made the score that says she should be ready to do CLE's 4th grade LA in the fall! {ETA: She joined us at mid-year, and we've only gotten through 2 out of 5 chapters of the English book.}

I'm so blown away that the 8th grader scored 99th percentile in Language! ALMOST makes me think we don't need to do English in high school (LOL!!!) but there's still so much she doesn't know yet! I'll be giving her the CLE placement test too, but I may or may not switch her over from R&S to CLE.
