I'm beginning to wonder if my oldest has a food dye issue. I want to say three times in the last year she's gotten awful migraines, and all three times it was after having something that would have a food dye in it.

She gets the aura, then her hand goes numb, then her lip goes numb, and she's generally miserable. :(

This one we caught pretty early, but she'd had birthday cake at gymnastics that had some brightly colored frosting, so I'm wondering if the dye in the frosting caused a problem. It was so bad, my husband wanted to take her to the ER. Since she's had this a few times before, I was able to let him know it was normal.

Now I'm thinking I should have her tested....is such a thing possible???

    My poor kiddo. :(

Anything is possible. I had a kid in my cheer leading group allergic to aspirin. I would look into it. Especially since it has happened more than once.

I have reactions when I eat certain foods with yellow coloring. My reaction is mostly a beet red face and neck. It's been so long that I forget if I had any other major issues. I remember feeling like I was on fire and a headache, but not migraine. It took me a while to figure out it was yellow colored foods. It was worst with powdered lemonade drinks, but I also reacted to generic Velveeta and a few other things.

Red #40 Lake tends to cause a lot of reactions in people. So it could def. be possible, however I don't know if it can be tested for or not.
