Yeah, a friend gave it to me. It's really good, the only problem is the 'when are we going on our next secret keeper girl date, mum?',

Ok - all my girls wear 2 pieces.... bikinis and tankinis. My 12 year old wears swim shorts as bottoms because she likes them. My teens are size 0 skinny (which I personally think should not be a size). They wear what they look good in and are comfortable in. My 17 year old wears the tankini whenever she is "playing" in the pool and the bikini when she is tanning :) My 18 year old wears the bikini with shorts on when playing (but she's my "old" kid) When I lose the weight I put on with steroids, I will put back on my bikini :) Until then I wear my tankini. HOWEVER - even at my own pool parties, I wear a tankini - even when I CAN wear the bikini.

Shorts are mixed lengths - but no cheeks showing.

    Tank tops are just fine.

So I guess I'm liberal as long as it is respectful.

Don't talk to me about boys and pants around their butts - it's a daily war here with our 15 year old foster son.

I REALLY like tankinis!!! They are so much more modest than most one-piece suits! But Faythe HAD to have a one-piece for her mission trip.

Boys with their butts showing...that's what a heavy duty staple gun is for !!!

Boy this is a timely one for me!!! LOL I have been talking a lot to my 10 year old about dressing that is right and wrong and what we should and shouldn't show. I have been teaching through the clothes she has what modest dressing is and when we are out every time she asks if that's modest dress, it the total show it all!! Then I had to go into that we are in the world but not of it, we are to represent God not the world. Does anyone know of a good site to teach this because it sure is hard to find it out there and even in church....
Becky, that is very good that you are going to teach her. Do you plan on letting her wear it "out" at 11 or start to learn at 11?? I think that was the age that my mom did that with me. I would put make-up on and show her, but never wear it out. I did start wearing m/u at 13. Eye liner, mascara and clear lip gloss. We were not Christians or going to church and I was in PS. I think that is great Becky that you are going to teach her. I was a m/u artist before I ended up in the wheelchair. I takes time to understand m/u, how some things come out dark, some light and of course her hands getting use to applying. My dd is a major tom-boy but loves it when I visit my friends at the MAC counters and the girls always put m\u on her. It never looks like she is in a pageant or going on stage to dance. You pretty much can't see it but her eye's look bigger and brighter. So I agree with Becky that it is a very good idea that a m/u artist teach them to enhance their face.
I hope that my point of view doesn't offend anyone one here, this was not what I meant. I was just saying that my mom started me young and I always looked so much better then the others because I had been practicing for years before all my friends and I started wearing m/u.
I also don't think that our girls will want to wear m/u as young as the other girls. Our girls are not trying to keep up with the others. They are enjoying just being the girls they are being. One of the many things I love about homeschooling!!!!

I was at a public swimming pool a while ago, and there was a beautiful girl running around in a tiny bikini. Now I mean really beautiful, one of those women you only see once every so often, who are truly perfecty exquisite. Long shapely legs, perfect figure etc. Long flowing hair and a georgous face too.

She was extremely young. I know some women look a lot younger than they are, but she really was very young. Not just her face, but her behaviour belied her age. She was playing with her siblings or cousins, who were all younger than her, and they were all going down the slide etc. The wild abandon with which she was enjoying herself showed that she was not conscious about her beauty at all. She cannot have been more than 15.

Here is the problem: Every man in the area had his eyes trained on her. I looked around the whole pool, and every guy was just watching her. It was like an advertisement for "catch me if you can". Her mother just looked on proudly and kept taking pictures of her. I wanted to throw a towel over her very skimpy suit!

Why do parents let their children dress so provocatively? I see 10 year old girls with shorts so short the cheeks are clearly visible. When you know there are so many perverts around, why give them even more reason???

Our daughter is 7. They make a lot of clothes that are inappropriate for toddlers, preschoolers and early elementary. Things like high heels. My 7 year old doesn't need to walk around in 2 inch heels. She also doesn't need to wear a bra, yet I have seen bras in the kids section at department stores...and we aren't talking bra's for early developers...these really had no cups, so they were for girls that don't have anything to hold yet. She doesn't need to dress like Rocky and CeCe from Shake it Up, so we bypass that section at Target.

I just want her to be a kid for as long as she can. She is going to be a grownup for most of her life, so she should get to enjoy the innocence of childhood for a while.

When it comes to bathing suits, I do find Tankinis are often more modest than one piece suits. If you do have a church or camp type even that requires a one piece, look, into speedo suits. DD wears them for swimteam and they tend to cover up a lot and stay in place. The other option is to get a one piece and if it is too low cot, buy a swim shirt to wear over it.

Not everywhere allows a shirt. There's one place we go that doesn't, and I know some water parks don't, either. They say that when a kid jumps off the dive or goes down one of those gigantic slides, the shirt can go up over their head, and being wet could cling to their mouth and nose.

Most places will allow a swim shirt because it is skin tight and made of bathing suit fabric.

My 13yo girl is wearing bikinis this year. However, she covers them with a tank top and swim shorts! Her clothing choices are very modest. Do you know how hard it is to find long shorts!!! When we go shopping, it takes forever to find clothes she likes to wear. Everything is tank tops and short shorts. My son would not be able to leave the house with his pants on the ground......

    OH! That's different; I was thinking a t-shirt!

Rachael often finds longer shorts in the guys department at the thrift store. Those are great for camp and just hanging around!

Oh, my....this is my favorite rant- girl's clothes!

Recently, it took hours to find shorts to fit Jeannie and not be too short. Even the bermudas seemed cut very tight in the rear, and low waisted!

Who decided these young girls need to look like tramps?? Thank heavens Jeannie is still a huge tomboy and not into all that nine yards.

My dd is looking for board shorts too that do not look like boys, but are as long as boys.
Stores need to start catering to our modest gals!

Land's End sells women's board shorts that are pretty long. They also sell swim shirts...they are called rash guard shirts. They are a little pricey, but if you catch them at the end of the summer, you can get great deals for next year.

I just searched for women's board shorts long on amazon and found quite a few pair.
