I am new to this forum and new to homeschooling. I have one daughter, age 10, who will be entering 5th grade this fall. Last year was our first year homeschooling. We are with a public charter school. Last year we used the standard California fourth grade curricula. It was fine for training me how to teach but next year I want to try some new things. My daughter was diagnosed with inattentive ADD which is why I started homeschooling. I did not want to medicate her and it is a lot easier to keep her attention without all the classroom distractions. I am looking forward to being a part of this group and hearing what everyone else is doing with their kids.
Welcome! I started homeschooling my twins in 5th grade. They will be in 8th grade this year and we have no plans to return to public school! Have fun homeschooling! No one can teach your child the way you can!
Welcome! I am homeschooling my 10 year old son for the second time this school year. We also are with an online charter school. I love the benefits we get with being part of a charter school. The curriculum I use for my son is the Charlotte Mason Method of learning I found on AmblesideOnline.org. The great thing about the CM method is that lessons are short and to the point. It requires concentration, but for short periods of time. And we do a lot of art appreciation, nature study, etc. I hope you find the perfect fit that works for your family!
