I recently read this article: http://www.mrdaley.com/wordpress/20...up-a-newbs-guide-to-gamifying-your-classroom/ After much thought I think I've found a way to make this work. My kids are so excited. As soon as they found out they gave me a list of all the avatars they want in the game. Have you done anything like this or know of anyone who has? I could use some pointers especially with how badges and points will relate the the storyline. I'm doing a race around the world cool: sneeking in a little geography while we are at it).
He's got a very clever idea. I might try it with my teens. I bet they could work out the storyline for me. Thanks for sharing.
In a low tech way...we used homeworkopoly this past school year. If time permits before we start school in August I may try to use this idea. I try to keep things interesting for all three kiddos...one five this year, one twelve and the oldest is fourteen. I think this could work for all of them. But if I can't work it out I can use the ideas to update homeworkopoly.
This is a great idea! I think my boys would absolutely love "gamification" of the classroom. They would definitely do most of the planning for me too!
Sound like a lot of fun once you've got it up and running. I've been toying with a points system for Loralei, especially for reading. She can use the points to buy treats and previlages.
