I think was ever works best for your family. My children like to get everything done while they are still in their pj's. But that doesn't mean it works for everyone. But we do projects and dissections in the evening, when dad is home.

I think it really depends on your life. For us, we do better hitting it first thing in the AM bc my DS will get off track in a serious way if he has lazy time before his school. I prefer the afternoon as I am not a morning person, but we usually have errands to run then anyway. So for us we are at our table starting by 8. Plus it is nice to be done so that the afternoon is free to do what we need/want without worry in about needing to finish school work.
It may be different for you though, depending on your kids and lifestyle. :)

It depends on your family and your schedule. For us dd is an early riser so we get our work done in the morning. Dd normally starts between 7 and 8am (sometimes earlier). On the other had we have friends who normally do not get up until 8 or 9am so they do not start school until 10 or 11am. Just depends on what works for you.

We like to do everything in the morning when DH is at work. Then, when he get's home around 3 the boys can tell him what they learned, and we have time to go run errands in the evening without running back tot he house to do a project or finish work of some kind. It works for us. Now, if DH were to switch shifts then our school schedule would switch as well. It's really whatever works for your family. Try a few different times, or ask the kids which they prefer, and work from there. :) Good Luck!

Morning works best for us ... but that's us. All of our IRL friends start at noon-ish.

We are "supposed" to start at 9am. Lots of days it is 10am. I might be working more soon, so this fall we'll try to start at 8am.

We usually start around 10am. Ds is a slow mover in the morning. It is a lost cause if I try to rush him to start without ample time to wake up. It really depends on your family.

As others have said, it depends on you and your kids. For several years, we would get up at 6 AM before Daddy went to work. Often we had places to go, and we could get two solid hours in before needing to be anywhere. This past year, we didn't get up until 8:00. Just see what works best for you!

It varies by family and season of life. We used to do mornings, we've spaced it out throughout the day from morning to night, and we've done evenings.

We are morning people, so we start around 8.30am, and finish by 1.30 pm most days. That leaves a good part of the day free for other things. If we work in the afternoon, they are already a bit tired, generally fritter away the morning lazing around, and we have a meltdown by supper time!

We are morning people at my house, so school is done in the morning unless we have errands to run first.

My sister's family are night owls. They complete their lessons in the evening and night. It works for their family.

We do best finishing school work in the morning. On 'field trip' days, we go out in the morning to avoid crowds and finish up school work in the afternoon.

We will do our lessons after lunch while the baby naps so that I can focus on them. Depends on your situation.
