I wanted to post some pictures of our homeschool room, cause it is finaly finished. And I would love to see others rooms. But I don't want to exclude those who don't have a designated room for homeschooling, cause we didn't up until last year. Before we closed in our garage our "homeschool looked like" our couch LOL My DD would use a lapdesk and I would sit next to her. But now it looks like this..... (* see pic's below) Please show us yours.
I began homeschooling in 2006 when my oldest was preK. In 2008, I re-did our homeschool room because that was the first year I'd be teaching 3 boys, school grades: 1st, K, and PreK, but all working about 1 year ahead. I have pictures of what it looked like right after the re decorating. We moved 5 hours away, at the end of 2011 and are renting until Oct. But I am already designing out my ideal (on our budget of course!) homeschool room because we are SO CRAMMED here! I cannot wait!!! Here are pics from my last homeschool decorating project! (not shown are the art table, which ended up over 9 book shelves (3 tall, 3 long, filled with books and curriculum) and the kid height, large wooden desk for 4 (one kid one each side, their own shelves and cubby) with chairs. They must not have came in at the time of the pics. I miss it =( http://www.flickr.com/photos/83772133@N08/sets/72157630791931916 oK I can't get the pictures to show in the post, so I posted a link! Let me know if that doesn't work!
This post shows my set up at the star of last year. It served me well last year and forced me to keep clutter at a minimum. School mostly happens at the kitchen table. Your room looks great! http://www.homeschoolspot.com/showthread.php?p=373449#post373449
Nice rooms! I'm in the basement This is from 2011 and several things have changed, but here is what it was like at the start of the past school year: http://eclectic-homeschool.blogspot.ca/2011/09/homeschool-school-room-pictures.html
wow! EIR129 that is a nice desk. Did you make/assembly it? We kind of put together the different shelves that are in ours. You look like you could use a bigger room Embassy LOL So many great ideas (like the switching things out to keep her interested).
We just use our dining room! Just a table and some bookshelves and drawers. LOL I SO wish we had a special room!!
We don't have a designated school room. We do have an office but ds usually uses his lap desk and either sits on the couch or on the living room rug.
Mine kind of looks like my dining room and living room....cuz it is. We do a lot at the dining room table and the couch. When working on something more intense, my son will work at the desk in our living room.
Kircau, Thanks! That desk was built-in by a carpenter (my husband is in the construction business, so it works out well!) I miss our room, but it wouldn't really function well for us know, my boys are older and now I have a little girl in the mix too. It sure didn't look like those pictures once we started using it LOL! Now we are just at our dining room table and living room couch, but I do have a really nice chest of drawers and "cubbies" that keep everything organized! Can't wait to post pictures when I do our new room in a few months =) I love everyone's rooms, they all look great, I have lots of ideas now
Yeah, I am sure in the middle of the school year our room will look ALOT different LOL My hubby is an electrician and we have alot of special elecrtical thing around the house. Isn't it nice to have a husband with skills? Don't mean to brag, but we actually closed in the garage all by ourselves. Framed up the wall with the garage door (it is still there on the outside), hung the sheet rock, floated and taped it, spackled and painted. We even installed the carpet and padding It was hard work, but we like doing to projects like that together (me & dh).
I'm going to be blogging about our "school room" in a couple of weeks, I'll come back and share the link once I do. I love looking at other peoples' rooms although sometimes it makes me envious.
