Hello!! I am the mother of one very energentic 7 year old going into the 2nd grade this year! I just recently started searching different homeschooling techinques. We are beginners or should I say maybe beginners lol. Im on here looking for advice, different ways of teaching, where to go to get help and almost anything else that can be useful.

A lil more about us.....We are christians (pentecostal). We are not very religious but have a relationship with God. I would like to put a sprinkle of our beliefs in our teachings. We are very outdoors hands on on the go type people. Im looking at homeschooling my child because Im not so thrilled about he's school (or prob any other)....so thats a lil about us!!;)

    Welcome to the spot!

As far as advice, read all you can. And know that whatever you choose, if it isn't working you can change it! That's a beauty of homeschooling!

We started out kinda traditional textbook and that lasted all of 2 seconds! We unschooled using mostly unit studies. This year we're using a Charlotte Mason approach.

Unschooling was best for a time. Now CM is working best for us. Who knows what the future may bring, but whatever it is, I know I can roll with the changes. (and now I have REO Speedwagon stuck in my head...)

You're going to make "mistakes" along the way, but it's okay, you learn from them and move on and that's kinda the whole point, so jump in with both feet and hold on and visit the spot often, I would have NEVER made it through without this board! :)

Bienvenidos! Just keep surfing the web and researching until you hit on something that sounds like it might work for you and your child. Observe your child to see how he learns best. You'll get it with learning and experimenting. Hope you have a great year.
