All the threads about the first days and weeks of school got me wondering... Anyone else start 'early' have a break coming up? We're on week 9 this week and taking a break next week because of doctor and dentist appointments for my mom and son...and the weather here is finally cooling down a bit so we can take time off to enjoy nature!
I started very early with little planning because I knew father and son were taking a long field trip in Oct. I'll do the rest of my planning while they are gone. (As well as cleaning closets and giving away toys untouched for 2 years.) After years of stomach flutters when they went off, Sonny is now old enough I've lost my angst. How nice!
We have been going for a few months now, but will not get our first long break until Thanksgiving. We have taken off time when needed.
No, you're not alone. We start our year the first week of January, so we're actually in our home stretch. Last month we took a MUCH NEEDED six day break. My best guess is that we have about six weeks remaining to finish up our stuff for the year. Then we'll break until January rolls back around.
We have only just begun... but we will have at least one 3 day weekend a month here. We had Friday off last week due to an invite to a friends but that is okay cause I have like four weeks of free days to fill in! We already have 15 hours of PE by the end of this week thanks to both swimming AND baseball! I am callling baseball "Team Sports" on his high school transcript. So our real big break will be the week of November and maybe a couple days in October as we are due for a trip then. College Tours.
Holy far behind Batman! We still haven't gotten all of our stuff from the school yet. We've been able to start a few things...but not a full schedule yet.
Not behind, just different We start the first Monday in July when it's super hot here in GA and too hot to go outside anyway, we do schoolwork; then when it's nice out we can take breaks and enjoy the nice weather
We started on 8-20, and are on vacation this week. Love homeschooling! We,re takin a week at Thanksgiving, and two at Christmas, and still plan on being done by Memorial Day weekend!
We are having a week long break next week. We started a month ago, and I plan to work for 4 weeks, have a week off, etc, etc. Neither DS or I work well when we are forced to work non-stop for so long.
I can tell by your family photo in your siggy LOL :lol::lol: (sorry, had to!) Seriously, everyone on this board is weird and different and wonky-WE HOMESCHOOL! That why I love you all so much!
It's funny you ask. We just took a break today. Yay for a mental health day! Of course, we still talked about math at the bakery, and we talked about animal science at the park, and we had some health mixed in there! All in all, a great day!
Yeah...that was a fun family photo day....not. I just could NOT get my cape to lay the way I wanted it. Oh, well....at least my hair looked good.
Hi ladies I'm new to the group. I have 10 year old twin boys I homeschooled them their pre-k year. And then they went to p/s,but I have pulled them out. And we are homeschooling again this year (4th grade) !! Once I made the decision, the last day of school. I decided that we wouldn't start until Sept 23. Were doing a bit of unschooling, and much needed relaxing from the p/s system here. We have done some schooling over the summer but nothing written down per say. My guys are always asking very detailed questions. there is never a dull day or a non learning day around here. However we won't officially have our first day until Sept 23. I love this site already.
We started a 5-6 weeks ago but won't take any real time off for another month or two depending on husband's return from sea. Anyone else start 'early' have a break coming up? We are in the middle of week 7 (if memory serves, which these days, it may not, ha!) and are trying to get to the quarter mark, then enjoy a few days off. Mine simply do not do well with too many days off, so I may go the way of a day here or there for "mental health" and forego any big vacation periods until we drive to Disney in the winter (goodness help us, 21 hrs in the car with 2 kids with ADHD and a toddler who does not sleep in the car, hee hee!).
Scratch that original post-I told my boys a break was coming....they almost cried when I told them no school for a week! LOL So...I guess we're gonna push on through...I hate to be the one to break their momentum...
