I got a Nook for Christmas last year. Just a plain-jane e-reader nook, not a tablet or anything like that. I do like it, but I don't really use it much. I could never figure out how to sync it to my library to check out books and I very rarely buy books, so once my giftcards ran out, I never put any more books on it. You can download some stuff for free, but the ones I tried weren't very good quality. Personally, as far as reading goes, I'd rather have a paper book.
However, I know some people who have Kindle Fires and they love them. I've never used one, so I can't really compare.

Are you asking about the e-readers? Or the tablets? I'm confused? LOL

Barnes&Noble ereaders are nook simple touch - Barnes&Noble tablets are Nook HD.

Amazon ereaders are Kindles - Amazon Tablets are Kindle Fire.

    Personally, I'm an Amazon girl-but I can't compare because I've never touched a nook.

J0sie I did not realise there was a difference, the nook I was looking at has Wifi, does that make it a tablet? lol I am looking at both actually but the question is asking about touch screen readers I guess?

I love my nook. I really thought I would have an issue with the aspect of it not being an actual book in my hands but it turned out to not be an issue. I have an old stand left over from my cross-stitch days which makes it stand at an angle that makes for easier reading. I really love that I can download a book from our library at two in the morning if I want to lol. At first I wouldn't let my grands near it but have slowly been adding things.

TALK TO YOUR LIBRARIAN!!! I probably would have been like you, but I asked the librarian about e-books, and she sat down with me and told me how to do it step-by-step! I've yet to actually BUY something for it. I REALLY like my Nook. No, it's not perfect (sometimes hard to find the books you want), but I really like that I can go on vacation, and take several books with me (in case I finish one) without all the added bulk. Mine is also a fairly simple one.

Carl just got a Kindle, so eventually I'll be able to tell which we like best!

I have a nook & my parents just bought one for my son for Christmas. I have the nook tablet. It is not only an ereader, but it also an actual android tablet. I do not regret the purchase at all! :)

We have a Kindle Fire and love it. I haven't used a Nook, so I can't compare them. My BIL says he thinks the Nook will be supported longer, tough I have no idea what that means. He's a tech geek. I am not.

Marion's Occupational Therapist and I were talking about my kindle when she was here yesterday, and she was admiring all of the learning apps I had on it, apps that she couldn't get on her IPad. She is now considering getting a Kindle Fire for use with her Kiddos.

Honestly, we use the apps more than the reader. I have the Kindle app on my phone and use it all the time for reading (doctor's appointments, dance classes, swim practices), but rarely read on the Kindle itself.

Personally, I'm an Apple fan. With the iPad, Kindle is just one of many thousands of free apps. While Apple devices cost more, you get what you pay for. While I use the Kindle app from time to time, I use other apps far more frequently.

One of my sons won a Nook. He sold it and used the funds to help buy an iPad.

Well, I have a Kindle- just the e-reader not Fire- we don't have wifi and can't afford an ipad, etc. , so thus just an e-reader =). I don't have much comparison to the Nook, but the reason I chose a Kindle is simply because I always shop on Amazon (because of location) so it made sense to go with them. I enjoy it a lot, plus there are so many free promotions of books I too rarely buy books, and there are free word games on there that my kids enjoy too- and some math games. I've heard great things about both though! Good luck!!

I haven't check the nook tablet prices yet, but now that the Kindle Fire comes in HD at the same pricepoint as the original Kindle Fire, the old Fire is now down to $159.

I'm not sure-my Kindle ereader has wi-fi and I'm not that familiar with Nook...

What do you want to use it for? Are you wanting just an ereader for books? That's the Kindle (without the fire) and the Nook Simple Touch

If you're wanting a tablet with apps (like an iPad but cheaper) you can get online, play games, download apps etc that's the Nook and the Kindle Fire

My nook doesn't have wi-fi, but Carl's basic Kindle does.
