SO most likely is working Christmas Eve and Christmas day and the next several days after that as well :( I'm trying to figure out how to do Christmas the 3 of us. He plows snow and works midnight to noon. I'm thinking of having us do our Christmas on Christmas Eve at our house(including Santa gifts but not for sure on that one yet). I'm just not sure what to do. I hate that we won't be together for Christmas, though I've known since we got together almost 7yrs ago that this was a possibility but last yr was our first Christmas living together so it was the first time we had to deal with this and it was a mild winter without a white Christmas. This yr I'm just not sure what to do. Dd is 7 and I'm just trying to figure out what to do. Not sure there is really a question here but does anyone else or has anyone else done something like this? Christmas day I still have 3 other places to go to and Christmas Eve we also have his mom's to go to.

I know it seems overwhelming but it will all work out. We put a halt several years ago to running around on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This year we saw my parents last weekend and today we are hosting my husband's family for Christmas at our house. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are just the four of us and I must say I LOVE IT! I know you will find a time to set aside for the 3 of you to do your special Christmas together. Hang in there and Merry Christmas! :)

We haven't but I've had friends who have. One family we're friends with had Christmas last weekend because the wife and kids are in FL this week and the husband stayed here.

We had a fake Christmas with my SIL when she was here for Thanksgiving but we didn't give the kids our gifts. Our intimate family Christmas will be on Christmas day.

I think you just have to find something that works for you and it may not be the same thing every year. It's OK to celebrate Christmas together on Christmas eve if that is when time best allows.

Thanks. Christmas Eve is when we are doing our gifts, then Santa will leave things at our house(he behaves differently at our house than at my parents house where Dd and I will be Christmas Eve night/Christmas morning). We did our big family gift tonight though because SO wanted to take it to work w/ him when he got called in tonight for some crazy reason(no snow or rain or even clouds in the forecast for about 12hrs but he's in to plow snow now:roll:). It will either be in the morning before I go to work if SO is home or after I get home from work. I just like getting to have our little family time, although I must say we do get it all the time and other than opening gifts there isn't much we plan to do since dinners are being hosted by our families Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Our Christmas Eve gifts though will be in the evening if we open gifts in the morning. If it's in the afternoon then that's when we will also do Christmas Eve gift because SO will be off to bed pretty much when I get home.
