I have a friend who is new to homeschooling. It has been so long since I started that I cant think of a really good book to suggest for her to read to help her along. Also any good sites for her to look at for information would be helpful. Thanks!
Anything by Raymond Moore (and his wife's name escapes me at the moment) like Better Late than Early John Holt & John Taylor Gatto have some wise words for parents. Dumbing Us Down is a must read.
These are my two favorites. http://www.amazon.com/Help-Harried-...r1&keywords=Help+for+the+hurried+Homeschooler http://www.titus2.com/homeschooling-with-a-meek-and-quiet-spirit.html
My copy is still on my shelf and I still read it all these years later! Another one is the one about ideas... I think it's suggested to be bought with it on Amazon. I love to look at that one still as well.
Wish I still had mine. I got rid of it years ago im sure. Also Thanks for all the good ideas I will pass them along
I would recommend going to as many park days as possible for a month and asking homeschoolers all the many questions that a newbie has.
Park days are a good idea. I dont think you group has them actually. I have not been active in our group since we moved this summer. I agree though she should go to as many events as possible and ask other moms.
Or come here and ask... this is a mom's dream version of a park day, no need to make sure little Johnny doesn't fall off the monkey bars and we are here pretty close to 24/7
I like this book and refer to it when I need some encouragement. Homeschooling By Heart http://www.amazon.com/Homeschooling-Heart-Moms-Road-Making/dp/B000RMSCM4
"I Saw the Angel in the Marble" ==It is my #1 book for homeschooling. I plan on keeping this maybe even after we are done. I will lend it out only to people I trust right now. It is not a book I would like to share and not get back. Here is a wonderful website: http://www.homeschooloasis.com/
